Yes you can, but you should be aware that removing the bump will leave a flat top to the nose (sometimes called an "open sky"), which many patients don't like. That's why surgeons often will bring the outer nasal bones in when they remove the bump. Also, making the bump smaller can change the harmony of the nose. That's why patients often will also fix the tip when they work on the bump. IN the end, it's all your choice. Be sure to discuss your goals and concerns with your board certified plastic surgeon and consider the pros and the cons. Be certain your surgeon is properly certified. I've attached a link where you can start your search.
Hello and thank you for your question. Based on yourphotograph, you may benefit from a conservative dorsal hump reduction. Make sure you specifically look at before and afterpictures of real patients who have had this surgery performed by your surgeonand not just a computer animation system. The most importantaspect is to find a surgeon you are comfortable with. I recommend that you seekconsultation with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon who can evaluateyou in person.Best wishes and good luck.Richard G. Reish, M.D.Harvard-trained plastic surgeon
Removing a dorsal hump is typically a very straightforward part of a rhinoplasty (nose job), and can sometimes be done in isolation without altering other parts of the nasal anatomy. A visit to a plastic surgeon's office will help you to understand if you're a candidate for the procedure, and what aesthetic outcomes are realistic in your particular case. In order to get a qualified, ethical, and expert opinion on your surgical options and expectations, schedule an in-person office consultation with a plastic surgeon certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery.Best of luck,Keith M. Yes, you can have a rhinoplasty to improve the dorsal hump that you have. It is performed as an outpatient. I can do this in my fully accredited facility.
The short answer is yes. An experienced specialist rhinoplasty surgeon should be able to tailor the nose to what you want. There are many facets in achieving a balanced nose post rhinoplasty however if your wish is for the hump to be sorted without a change in the other dimensions then this should be respected. A thorough consultation and examination by a rhinoplasty specialist should give you the answers. Hope this is helpful.
The dorsal bump is composed of both bone and cartilage which must be shaved down in order to remove it. That will improve the side profile. The front profile will then have an appearance of a very wide, flat top, open roof deformity. Osteotomies placed in the nasal bones are then required to close the open roof and narrow the nasal bones from the frontal view. It's important to remember that the nose is a three-dimensional structure, and rhinoplasty is performed in all three dimensions. Thanks for your question! It is certainly possible to reduce a dorsal hump during a rhinoplasty. If you are happy with your tip then it does not necessarily need to be addressed. You should discuss your concerns with an experienced rhinoplasty surgeon to develop a plan tailored to your desired outcomes.Good luck!
Best to speak to a board certified plastic surgeon -- it is possible only to remove the bump. We can do what ever you want and give you a better looking nose.
Hello and thank you for your question. Yes! You can get a nose job just to remove your dorsal hump. That's actually probably the most common reason that people seek Rhinoplasty surgery. As for breaking the bones, that depends. Sometimes removal of a very small hump does not require breaking of the bones. But if an open roof is created by taking down the hump, then breaking of the bones must be done to close it. I would recommend seeing a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon for more specific answers to your questions. Hope this helps.
A rhinoplasty absolutely can help you! The nose is a very complex combination of bone, cartilage, and skin. Each area can be individually addressed. As a plastic surgeon, I can target the area that bothers you, and also discuss the overall changes needed to balance the final appearance. An examination and consultation with your plastic surgeon is the next step you need to take!
Straightening a nose on front view is much more complicated than removing a hump. The cause of the curve may be related to a deviated septum and repair may require cartilage grafts from your septum as well. It's unlikely that the nose can be made perfectly straight but it can often be improved...
Thank you for sharing your question and photos. You appear to be an excellent candidate for a conservative rhinoplasty. Based on the photos you have provided; your nose can be feminized with a few minor changes. For instance, slightly shaving your dorsal hump and refining your nasal tip will...
There is an in office procedure that can stabilize the nostrils so that they don't widen as much with smiling.  If this sounds like the problem you are experiencing, this nostril stabilizing procedure may be beneficial.  Good luck
