Juvederm filler in tear trough has disappeared the day after injection?

This is tough to answer without before and after pictures. It usually takes 1-2 weeks for final results with fillers. If you're unhappy with your final results, you can have it reversed with hyaluronidase and try a different technique next time. Best, Dr. Emer

In general, I am not much of a fan of plain Juvederm for use directly under the eyes, since its molecules possess a heightened tendency to draw surrounding tissue fluid towards them, which can result in swellings and bag and sac formation, or the Tyndall Effect that might need to be dissolved with hyaluronidase.  Restylane Silk, as well as my personal preferences, Belotero Balance (which I use in my NY practice) and Teosyal Redensity II (which I prefer in my Israel satellite facility, where a far greater number of regulatory agency approved fillers are available) make preferable choices for the under eye regions, since they go in smoothly and evenly and have little propensity to engender the unwanted, bluish Tyndall Effect when injected superficially in the delicate tissues under the eyes. In your case, however, you are seeing loss of response in the 24 hours since treatment, indicating possibly that not enough material was injected or possibly was diluted too much. In this case, I would suggest waiting between two and four weeks before considering any further treatments. You would do well to discuss the various agents mentioned above with your treating physician. Make sure you are consulting with a board certified aesthetic physician with experience and expertise in treating the technically much-more-difficult under eye region, and it would also be wise to ask to see his/her personal before and after photos before proceeding. Best of luck to you. 

Thank you for your question. Today you are supposed to have even more pronounced effect than yesterday due to swelling. I think that you should get one more filler if you are looking for more improvement but please wait for a week before you do so.

However, Juvederm is not the best filler for the tear trough area as it leads to constant swelling. The best filler for this area is Restylane as it is thinner filler and leads to less swelling. If this persists, I recommend having this dissolved with an enzyme known as hyaluronidase. Good Luck!

Dear Meliss Thank you for your very good question.I have filled countless tear troughs and would say that it is important to see the treated and untreated eye side by side so you can really appreciate the change.Juvederm Ultra can cause some swelling so might look great initially but once swelling goes it becomes evident that more product is required. It is good to know this there and then.It is better therefore to use a product that does not swell such as Volbella or Redensity II so that what you see is what you get. (WYSIWYG is an acronym the older ones among us will remember) I believe that Redensity II is specifically approved for tear trough.Kind Regards Dr Dinesh Maini Zenith Cosmetic Clinics 

I would definitely wait 10 days to evaluate the effects to see how you like the injections and what appearance it has after waiting. Often you cannot tell how it looks right away and you may need to return to have more filler injected.  I personally prefer Restylane and Belotero for the tear trough area. Best, Dr. Green

At this point you need to give it about two weeks to see how things settle down.  If you are not completely satisfied, then perhaps you need more filler. Best of luck.

... hard to comment on without proper before and afters. For tear troughs, most specialist would UNDERCORRECT, namely improve but not efface the trough area as this is a natural anatomical area. Most of us would use only a tiny amount of filler in this area - 0.1-0.3 at most, depending on the depth.
