High inframammary fold, I've been told. Will it complicate a lift with augmentation? (photo)

Question

Two surgeons have said that my inframammary fold is high, so a lift with an implant would be complicated, and require a lowering of my fold. One said I would need a revision within 6 months. no other surgeons I spoke to mentioned that my breasts were complicated or problematic. I was hoping for a small implant to achieve fullness (200cc? Are there implants smaller than that?), in addition to the lift. Do my breasts look problematic?

Hello and thank you for your question. You are a great candidate for a breast augmentation using a dual plane technique which can be designed to help correct your asymmetry.  The patient in your goal picture got 200cc implants (she is my patient). The size, profile, and shape of the implant is based on your desired breast size/shape, your chest wall measurements, and soft tissue quality.  This decision should be based on a detailed discussion with equal input from both you and your surgeon.  Make sure you specifically look at before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgery performed by your surgeon and evaluate their results.

Unfortunately, you don't show a pic of your IMF"s.   The one side view helps, but you don't show the other.   The best pic or view of this is to take a pic from the front while gently lifting your breasts to we can see your IMF's.   But, even if they are uneven, it really doesn't mean you can't have a lift or implants if the surgeon knows what they are doing.   discoverthebeauty.com/before-after-photos-maryland/breast-augmentation-with-lift/

Exact end results and cup sizes are usually quite difficult to calculate as everyone has a different starting point.

There are many different factors that go into choosing a breast implant size which will correspond with your body dimensions while concurrently achieving your aesthetic results. Some of these factors are: Implant size (CC's), Implant profile (Low, Moderate, High), Placement of the implant (Subglandular vs. Dual Plane) etc. We utilize smooth round cohesive silicone gel 'gummy bear' implants for the best results.

From your photos, you demonstrate a degree of breast asymmetry and sagging. While I do not have the advantage of knowing your specific measurements, it appears that you would be an excellent candidate for an augmentation with differential fill and lift. I don't see any problem resulting from the high inframammary folds as that can be dealt with satisfactorily. Implants come as small as 120 cc, but many patients relate that implants of less than 200 cc may not be noticeable!
Determining the “perfect” breast size before a planned breast augmentation is quite a difficult task. Each individual has a different concept of “normal” breast size. In addition, there is no standardization of bra size in the manufacturing  industry. One company’s “C” is another company’s “D”.
  
There are various ways to determine desired breast size. Bringing in “wish pix” to demonstrate to your surgeon will make him / her aware of your anticipated goals.  Placing an implant in a bra gives an extremely rough idea of anticipated breast size. One may estimate volume by adding rice to a baggie ( 1 cc  1 ml) and adding the volume to your breast beneath a bra. Some surgeons offer computer imaging. 
  
The most important measurement is the base width of the implant. If you drop a vertical line from the medial most and lateral most aspects of the breast, and measure the distance between them, this suggests a base width. If an implant is too narrow, you will not have adequate cleavage. If wider than the base width, you will have excessive cleavage and “lateral boob”.  The fill of the implant then determines the amount of forward projection. I recommend you visit an implant website (e.g. Mentor) as they will list base widths, fill options, and projections for each implant size they offer. 
  
I recommend a thorough discussion with your plastic surgeon to ensure that you are both on the same page.
