Can face massages move fillers in my cheeks and around my mouth?

That's a great question, as far as I'm concerned it is safe to have a facial massage after fillers, but wait at least 2 weeks, as you don't want to flatten or move the filler before it "sets".  Laser treatments on the other hand have some possibility of denaturing fillers, possibly.Best of luckDr. G

If you have recently had filler treatment you should avoid massaging or firm pressure to the treated area as it can displace the product. If it has been a few weeks since your filler treatment your fillers are unlikely to migrate due to mild pressure. Be sure to discuss your concerns with your provider.

Hi, thank you for your question. This is actually something I go over with my patients after a filler treatment. I always advise against getting a massage for about 7-10 days after filler treatment as the filler is still mold able and can shift with pressure. After the aforementioned time, you can safely get massages.

Yes, massages can move the filler initially. It is generally recommended to wait at least 2 weeks before having a massage, manipulating the areas that have had filler added (try not to touch, if possible!), or having any additional treatments to the area immediately after. It is also recommended to avoid sleeping on the area filled or doing a significant amount of strenuous exercise following the procedure.

It is safe to have facial massage after a filler treatment.  It is a good idea to wait 10-14 days after your injections, just to be extra safe.  However, once the filler is injected, it is unlikely to move without significant manipulation.  

My patients often ask me how long they need to wait after getting fillers before getting any other facial treatments, including massages. The rule of thumb is wait the two weeks and you should be safe getting any treatment.  In the future,  you can always get any messages,  laser and microneedling right before injections and may be able to do it all the same day. Beautifully from Boston,  Dr. Onir
