Thank you for your question. Just let your surgeon know what you are allergic too and what you are able to take and they will make sure they give you something safe. Best of luck to you.
Hello and thank you for your question. You should discuss this with your plastic surgeon. Vancomycin is a common alternative to be used as prophylactic antibiotics in penicillin-allergic patients. Doxycycline is probably O.K too. Talk to your surgeon. Best, Pejman Aflaki, M.D. Johns Hopkins-trained double board-certified plastic surgeon
Doxycycline should be just fine (given your allergies) to protect against the types of bacteria for which we give antibiotics before and after surgery.
Thank you for your question.I would discuss this with your surgeon, each surgeon has their preference on what antibiotics they like to use. Doxy is an acceptable choice, based on your allergy profile. Again, discuss this with your surgeon.
Inform your board certified plastic surgeon of your severe allergic reactions to all pens, cephs, and macrolides. Substituting doxycycline should not pose a problem.
Dear Vivid6836,every plastic surgeon has his own preoperative protocol which he recommends to his patients. Most plastic surgeons use a single antibiotic dose prior to surgery. I would suggest you to discuss this with your plastic surgeon.Daniel Barrett, MDCertified, American Board of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
Dear Vivid6836,Thank you for our question. Yes, doxycycline can be used for surgical prophylaxis before a liposuction procedure. Your drug allergies should be reviewed by both your surgeon and anesthesiologist.Good luck, Nirmal R. Vivis6836I appreciate your concern, and doxycycline is a reasonable option for antibiotic prophylaxis prior to liposuction. Only one dose is required just before your operation begins. Discuss your drug allergy history and all aspects of your medical history with your board-certified plastic surgeon prior to surgery. Good luck.
Thank you for your question. If you are referring to antibiotic prophylaxis before surgery, then doxycycline can be used. Discuss this with the surgeon during the consultation process.
I usually only treat my liposuction patients with a single dose of IV antibiotics just prior to the start of a procedure. No further antibiotics are indicated and Doxycycline is a very good antibiotic option.Best of luck.Dr T
Hello and thank you for your question. I believe you are a good candidate for tummy tuck. You can have a good result with either technique. More important than the type of liposuction used, is the surgeon's skills performing the procedure. Make sure your surgeon is board-certified, pay attention...
Hello. Great question. Thank you for you picture. However, more images are needed to properly address your concerns. However, based on your one image, it appears you may benefit from liposuction and perhaps some skin tightening. Please visit a board certified plastic surgeon for a detailed...
U.S. regulations require a maximum of 5L removal. This is to ensure the lowest risk and highest possible safety measures. I suggest seeing a board certified physician for a thorough surgical consult to discuss your case. Best, Dr. Emer.
Hello. Great question. Those procedures you mentioned should not involve any area near your spleen. However, based on your concerns, I will suggest visiting your primary provider for further details.
Florida has some different laws in place for liposuction (4 liters in surgery center as single procedure, 1 liter when done in combination). In most states, you can liposuction 5 liters and transfer whatever amount is deemed appropriate. Make an email or Skype consultation with a board certified...
Thank you for your question! Yes, it is possible to combine a breast reduction with liposuction of the abdomen and flanks, however, it will probably not be covered by insurance. I hope this helps!
