I have a long face with very weak cheekbones and asymmetry. Would cheek implants provide the outward (horizontal) projection I'm seeking? If so, what kind / size / placement of implant should I explore? In the attached photo I have provided a side-by-side with a photoshop of the look I'm going for. The only thing I altered is the width of the cheek area.
Answer: Fuller Cheeks In reviewing your pictures, you have weak bone structure in the cheek area of the face. This lack of bone is causing flatness and loss of shape to the midface. To create a high and defined cheek in your situation, cheek implants are a wonderful option. I recommend cheek implants for young patients that have a bone deficiency. This is the only option that will create a permanent result and will be cost effective overtime. I would recommend combined malar/submalar implants based on your pictures. With all surgery, there are risks involved, but with a qualified surgeon you have a great chance of having a wonderful outcome. You have other options to improve the area by adding volume with fat, fillers, or Sculptra. If you are looking for the absolute safest option, these are the way to go. The downside to these options is they have to be repeated and will cost you more money in the long run. I hope this helps!

Answer: Cheek Augmentation From your photos which are limited, I feel you would be an excellent candidate for facial fat grafting. The procedure will allow you to achieve the results you are looking for with fat from your own body, without the need for placement of an artificial implant. Fat grafting will provide you with volume augmentation tailored to your face, rather than using a standard set of implants. I suggest you have an in person consultation to determine which treatment is best for you. Good Luck!

Answer: Cheek implants Hello and thank you for your question. The best advice you can receive is from an in-person consultation. With that being said, based on your photographs, you may be a good candidate for cheek implants. I always use medpor cheek implants with screw fixation. Silicone cheek implants tend to have a high rate of malrotation over time. The most important aspect is to find a surgeon you are comfortable with. I recommend that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon who can evaluate you in person. Best wishes and good luck. Richard G. Answer: Cheek implants The malar area is the most projecting part of the midface skeleton. It is what we consider the "cheekbone." Prominent malar bones are considered attractive. Hence, the malar area is frequently augmented with implants. Oftentimes, a deficiency in cheek prominence is part of a more generalized deficiency in the midface skeleton. For that reason, malar (cheek) implants are often used in combination with other implants - most frequently, with infraorbital rim implants, which build up the area directly beneath the eye.

Answer: Cheek Augmentation The type of cheek augmentation effect you seek is a lateral or width augmentation. This requires either modification of a malar style cheek implant or to have hand carved or custom cheek implants made that only augment the area of the cheek you seek to change.
