Could bump on my nose be a callous formation that will resolve? (Photos)

Question

I'm 11 days post-op. I have a bump on the side of the bridge of my nose and it is visible from the front/profile, which I discovered a day after cast removal. It is hard to the touch and I’m very concerned that it will not go away. My doctor just said we have to wait it out.

Eleven days is too soon to tell anything yet. I have had many patients that look bumpy after surgery that smooth out nicely over a period of a few months. I occasionally have a patient that looked smooth after surgery that developed a little bony callous a few weeks after surgery. Either way, if a bony bump remains after six months, a small filing of the bump can usually be done in office.

Your nose is very swollen only 11 days postoperative, and swelling of the lining of the nasal bone may appear firm. The upper nose loses swelling first, so this will declare itself over the next 1-2 months in all likelihood. If it looks a tad better at the end of the day compared to morning, it's likely swelling. Thank you for your question and congratulations for your recent procedure. 11 Days post op is really too soon to assess the cosmetic result. As the nose is made of bones, cartilages and skin, with the trauma of the operation, the healing takes several months and the different structures heal at different times. I have to agree with you doctor that waiting for everything to settle is the best and wiser approach.All the bestAndrea Marando
