How much does nose tip drop after closed rhinoplasty? Will pressure massages downward help it drop? I'm 1 month post op.

Hello,At this early point in your recovery it is too early to assess any sort of final results. There's still a significant amount of swelling present in all the operated parts of your nose. As the swelling recedes in the tip of the nose, it will settle and refine. I encourage you to listen to your surgeons reassurances and try to be patient with the recovery process. Best of luck.

Hello,There are many reasons why your tip can appear rotated, some are due to swelling and are temporary, others are due to more long term or even permanent manipulations that occurred during surgery. If your surgeon used suture, it may not drop. Have this discussion with him. Best of luck!

Yes it's a bit early to judge final results since you are 1 month out. However, nose massage and compression exercises can alter the shape of the nose and reduce some of the swelling. Check with your surgeon, but I would recommend compressions twice a day to push the tip down. (It would help to post a before and after photo)

I know how frustrating it might be to go through the trouble of getting a rhinoplasty, only to have it not look exactly how you envisioned it right away. 1 month from the time of surgery is way too soon to tell what your nose will look like. Only massage and manipulate the nose if your plastic surgeon recommends it. I will sometimes do taping of the nose to get it to settle into the shape I want. Also, don't be discouraged by tip work that may have been performed. Many people don't understand the relationship of different anatomic parts of the nose. To maintain proportion, sometimes small adjustments are made. As long as the additional tip work was done with this in mind, I know that you will be satisfied in the end.

Pressure massage can definitely help you.  Before starting you need to clear this with your surgeon.  Since you are only 1 month post op, you can expect a lot of changes in the coming months and up to a year.  Don't be too quick to judge your result.  As the nose settles you may like the change.
