I am looking to thin out my nose a bit. But during my research I mostly see Caucasian results. I am quite pale and I feel like my nose is too wide for my features. Should I look into surgeons that specialize in African American noses?

You don't have to find a person that "specializes in African American noses" to have a great result. It is important to find a surgeon with a ton of rhinoplasty experience in general, and then see if some African American results are on the website. An experienced surgeon should have all the tools necessary to make your nose thinner while keeping a nice, natural result.

A good rhinoplasty surgeon can do this no matter what ethnicity you are because ultimately the plan differs patient to patient. I've literally had to do two different procedures on a mom and a daughter who are both black and also clearly share genetics, but their noses were different, their tissues were different, and they required completely different plans. So I think just searching for a surgeon who specializes in black noses isn't enough, esp if you aren't yourself (I can't tell from your pics or your question). Best to just find a surgeon who can handle any kind of nose, and you are looking for a variety of B&As in the surgeon's gallery. even if they aren't online, then you could also ask them prior to consultaiton if they have access to photos in the office that they can show you of other ethnicities because sometimes patients don't agree to have their pics published online but are okay with it being shared in teh office.

Hello and thank you for your question. Based on your photograph, you may benefit from a rhinoplasty. A surgeon can accomplish this by trimming, suturing, and reshaping the cartilage in your lower nose. Fascial grafts may also be used to help improve tip refinement. Make sure you are going to a surgeon with hundreds of long-term before and after pictures on their website with standardized lighting and standardized backgrounds. With good surgical technique, you could have an outstanding result. I recommend that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified rhinoplasty surgeon who can evaluate you in person.
