Hello, thank you for your question. Yes if you are considering a BBL you should refrain from any type of filler. If you had a bit added to your hips that is not so bad but you put your self at higher risk since the tissue is more dense and the fat graft may not survive as well. Typically we turn away patients with any type of filler in the buttock area.
Dear stk1882,every plastic surgeon has his own preoperative protocol which he recommends to his patients. I would suggest you to discuss this with your plastic surgeon.Daniel Barrett, MDCertified, American Board of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
I see no problem for BBL after injection of Radiase. It is always best to check and follow recommendation of your surgeon once you decide to have fat transfer as a part of BBL. Good luck.
Each plastic surgeon will have their own view on this. I suppose some of it has to do with the amount of filler injected. For most people, fillers are price prohibitive for this kind of body contouring. If you had a significant amount of filler injected then this may potentially limit fat survivability, though this is all relative. Each plastic surgeon is going to have a different opinion. The first step is really to get a quality assessment and begin the vetting process to find the right providers. In that process you’ll get a chance to ask each provider firsthand how they feel about grafting fat in areas where you had Radiesse injected previously.Delivering consistent quality, liposuction and fat transfer result is not as easy as most people think. The number of plastic surgeons who mastered these procedures are in a small minority. These procedures are more difficult than most people realize, and a substantial number of plastic surgeons aren’t particularly good at either liposuction and fat transfer.I can’t emphasize enough the importance of provider selection, and also understanding your own candidacy for the procedure in the first place. Your previous filler may or may not be an issue, but this should not neglect the importance of understanding your candidacy for both Liposuction and fat transfer as well as the importance of properly vetting plastic surgeons. To do that, I suggest scheduling multiple in person consultations. During each consultation, ask each provider to open up their portfolio and show you their entire collection of before, and after pictures of previous patients, who had some other body characteristics to your own. An experienced provider should have no difficulty showing you the before and after pictures of at least 50 previous patients. When it comes to reviewing fat, transfer results, recognize that early fat transfer results can look very impressive but do not in any way represent final results. Always confirm the timeframe of when after pictures were taken in relationship to the date of surgery. After pictures in order to be a representative, it should never be taken less than a minimum of 3 to 6 months from the date of surgery. Take care from notes during each consultation, especially regarding the quantity and quality of before and after pictures shown. There’s no correct number of consultations needed to find the best provider. The more consultations, you have the more likely you are to find the right provider. Poorly done, liposuction and fat transfer can lead to disfigurement that is difficult or impossible to improve upon.Do not assume because somebody’s board-certified in plastic surgery, as years of experience, or an overall good reputation that they’ve mastered any one single procedure especially not Liposuction and fat transfer. In the end, finding the right provider and understanding your candidacy for the procedure of the two most important variables, and are generally what differentiates quality outcomes from the rest.Best,Mats Hagstrom, MD
