Both Botox and Xeomin are botulinum toxin A products. There are slight differences but clinically, these differences are meaningless. Which one of the products you receive is meaningless because clinically these is no distinction. They are entirely interchangeable not matter what company representatives want doctors to believe.
Hi!As a patient it is important to know what is being administered to you. A doctor or provider should always make you aware of what is being injected into your face. I would say, make sure you clarify with your provider which product is being used prior to injection for your own knowledge. It is important to know in case of a reaction for other providers, as well as your own personal preference as to what you like more!
Thank you for your question. Absolutely, 100% yes. Both are neuromodulators, true, but they have different costs and very slight differences. Moreover, you have the right to know what products you're being treated with.Best,-Dr. P
Hello, good question. Xeomin it's a neurotoxin that never cause a reaction of resistance because its PURE TOXIN and doesn't have any other substances. My recommendation is still using the brand you already use. In my experience both have great results. Good luck finding the right aesthetic physician for your case. Dr Luis Aesthetic Solutions_
In order for you to give a legal consent to treatment you must be informed of which drug you are being injected with, the pros/cons, side effects, and alternatives - and that means an explanation of all the alternative botulium toxins. If you haven't been told which drug is being used, you haven't given consent!
While both Botox and Xeomin (as well as Dysport) are similar neuromodulators, your physician should let you know which one they are injecting. If a patient does not feel that Botox is lasting as long as it should, I often change to either Xeomin or Dysport.
I'm not sure that there is a written law but of course your doctor should tell you what you are getting. Giving you one thing and telling you something else would be fraud in my book. If they don't tell you the truth, you will know anyway if you are aware of fact that Xeomin works much faster and you will see results within a few day. I would prefer Xeomin over Botox but would not want to pay for Botox when getting Xeomin as Xeomin usually better price.
I can’t imagine that they would not tell you what drug they are using. I guess if you went to the doctor and just said treat my forehead wrinkles they could potentially use whatever drug they wanted. No different than if you had an infection and they said take this antibiotic. I still can’t imagine that I wouldn’t tell a patient what medication I’m giving them. Although, in the hospital there are many drugs that are given to patients and they probably have no idea the names it is the effect they’re going for. Overall, in an office setting and using a medication like Botox it seems so normal that a patient would ask or I would tell them exactly which neuromodulator I’m using. If you don’t care which one your doctor uses then I guess it doesn’t really matter. In my practice and I think in most we tell patients exactly which one we’re going to use and why. Best of luck! Dr. Boschert
Whether you using Botox, Dysport or Xeo you should always know and they should always tell you! Best of luck!
