I accidentally hit the tip of my nose upward, will this damage the nose after rhinoplasty?

I underwent rhinoplasty 2 and a half weeks ago. The doctor aligned my nasal bone by breaking bones and lifted the tip. As I was putting my retainer on, I applied pressure on my retainer upwards with my thumb. My hand slipped and I ended up flicking the tip of my nose upwards with a lot of force. Now I'm scared I have caused my tip to become overturned.

Hello,Thanks for your question. I'm sorry to hear that you had this happen to you. If your nose looks like it has changed at all because of the strike to the nose, I would recommend that you go see your surgeon and have them check you out. If you don't notice much change then you probably have just bruised it but not caused it to shift position. Good luck,Dr. Shah

It is common for people to hit their nose after a rhinoplasty, although they are very careful for it not to happen. More than likely, you haven't caused any damage, but it's always a good idea to be evaluated by your surgeon.

Recovering from rhinoplasty is a healing process. As you get used to your new nose, you may have accidental bumps to it. As long as there is no bleeding, obvious change in shape, or lasting pain it is unlikely you've done any harm. Any concerns should be brought to the attention of your surgeon so she/he can keep you on track for a safe and happy result. Safety comes first.
