I just found I was pregnant a week ago and I'm scheduled for an abortion tomorrow. My bbl is scheduled for June 26th, Will I be okay to have surgery or would it be better to push back my date?
Answer: Bbl Ultimately this decision needs to be between you and your plastic surgeon. If you were my patient I would have you wait 6- 8 weeks. Certain hormonal changes in pregnancy can make complications more likely.Best of luck! Dr. SubbioBoard-Certified Plastic SurgeonNewtown Square/Philadelphia, PA

Answer: BBL and Abortion Having had an abortion by itself would not be a contraindication to having the BBL. This depends upon the nature of the abortion, the postoperative course, the point during the pregnancy, the relative weight gain, etc. This must be evaluated on an individual basis by your OBGYN and your plastic surgeon. If there are no complications after surgery, 3 months after surgery may be a reasonable time period. Kenneth Hughes, MD, Board Certified Plastic SurgeonLos Angeles, CA

Answer: BBL and abortion Regards, Pregnancy causes changes in the body like blood clotting and in other systems, which represents a greater danger of presenting, for example, pulmonary thromboembolism, which can be fatal. It is recommended after an abortion, to wait at least 3 months before performing any type of surgery, including plastic surgery. Remember that the first thing is your health. I hope the information was usefull, have a nice day! Dr Carlos Alberto Ríos.

Answer: Timing of BBL Greetings. This is something to discuss with your surgeon. There would need to be some follow up labs and a recovery period before the BBL procedure. The timing would need to be coordinated between your plastic surgeon and the recommendations of your gynecologist. Best wishes.
