For at least 20 years, I have wanted to have cosmetic surgery. While I was on the smaller side ranging from 99 to 125lbs, I was always unhappy that I had a FUPA. During Covid, I gained about 40lbs and I realized that I spent my skinny days thinking I was fat and wished, hoped and prayed that I could get back to those days. So finally, I had the time, money and guts to just do it! My surgery was on March 17, 2022. If I had to do it all over again, I wouldn’t! Although, I look absolutely amazing and the transformation is almost unbelievable, I have been suffering for nearly 16 months post op. I will try to give a timeline of events without being too drawn out. I had my surgery(TT, Lipo 360, Natural BBL, Muscle Repair)in the DR and despite some reviews, my experience wasn’t terrible. In fact, the staff at my recovery house was a God send. They were very professional, attentive and patient. My only issue, not a complaint was the language barrier. My surgery was a success but the days, weeks, months and year later has been grueling. Post op effects: 1. I walked like a Neanderthal which is to be expected. The pain, for me was excruciating for months. 2. I vomited my life away for at least 30 days 3. My swelling was extreme. Especially in my feet and legs. I couldn’t wear shoes for more than 45 days. 4. I had night tremors for at least 7 days, which I read was pretty normal after any surgery. It was the most frightening thing. 5. My skin felt like it was on fire for about 4 to 5 months. Sometimes I just wanted to die. 6. I was severely depressed for at least 3 months. The depression still lingers because I’m still suffering. 7. I continue to feel what I call electric shocks throughout my body. I read that it could last for up to 2 years. I also may have some nerve damage but I want to get a second opinion. 8. I developed keloids. It’s the WORST thing ever! People of color, make sure you let your surgeon know that you’d like something to pretreat it and make sure you continue with after treatment (injections and silicone sheets as well as a scar remover). Trust me, you do not want to go through what I have. Side note: I had another surgery on April 27, 2023 to remove the keloids. Guess what? They are back! :-( 9. I nearly developed an infection. You will be you best doctor. Don’t let anyone tell you that you that something is normal. Insist on being seen by your surgeon. YOU know your body. As an example, for me, I couldn’t breathe very well, while I may have been hungry, I was afraid to eat because the food wouldn’t go down. Why were these 2 things happening? Because I had an excess of fluid in my body which caused more pain, suppressed my breathing and caused water to escape my legs. 10. Numbness - I still can’t really feel touches to my stomach. While it’s getting better, it still feels weird. Because I want everyone to know the real real and what COULD happen. I am willing to discuss offline as well as give my suggestions on what you can’t live without pre and post op. Note: Remember, it takes time to see final results. Be patient and don’t be discouraged. See pictures below: Before: Pre-op - 181lbs After: 6 weeks Post-op approximately 170lbs
Let me start off by saying Dr. M is the best surgeon in Santo Domingo!!!! My experience with him was nothing but the best. He fixed my bad boob job that Dr. Quioz did (horrible job) I regret not making Dr. Mercedes doing my surgery the first time. I'll be back for round 3
Dr. Mercedes is such a sweetheart. He has great bedside manners. When I went in for a consult, he knew exactly what he had to do with my body. I was excited until I exit his office to speak to the coordinator. BEWARE LADIES they are plenty hidden charges after your quote. Besides the $140 for CT Scan, there is a $100 COVID test that they say is refundable, and additional $450 for another COVID test, the after care medicine is NOT included, they will charge $350 if you don’t have your own medicine. They don’t give you a list of medicine prior to coming, so you’ll be stuck buying medicine from them that would probably cost $100 the most in the states for $350. Unorganized should be the key word. I know they are overwhelmed with questions and dolls however they will have you spending your entire day in the clinic. Example 9pm Thursday night I was told to come for my appointment Friday at 4:30 am. I was ready so I was ok with the short notice, what I wasn’t ok with was waiting 9-10 hours for my name to be called to have surgery. I wouldn’t have been surprise if my pressure was high because of the wait. I didn’t drink anything nor did I eat. Plus they don’t tell you anything when you ask how long. However I notice girls that speak Spanish and came after me was taken to a room before me to be prep for surgery. The clinic is so unorganized and one staff made it very clear she didn't want to assist me after surgery because I was "americana" My over all experience was not good, but Dr. Mercedes did his THANG on me. I am very Happy with my Tummy Tuck, Lipo and BBL. He is an amazing doctor but hopefully this post will make him look into his staff and the clinic staff. I shouldn't be treated different because I'm American or a non Spanish speaker. Hopefully this help another doll.
He outdid himself, I am beyond pleased. I was so scared at first but he deserves all the credit people are raving about. Definitely turned me into a doll super excited for my new wardrobe lol. He did exactly what I wanted and it turned out exactly how he said. Pricing is worth every penny.
Súper agradecida con el doctor mercedes, profesional, sensato y amable. Estoy súper feliz con mis resultados. El papá de las muñecas en RD I’m in love with my body... más que feliz. Gracias doctor Mercedes.
I plan on going to Dr. Mercedes in March 2021 for a TT, BBL & lipo of course and I don't want to experience it alone so I am looking for a surgery sister. I've done a lot of research. Dr. Yily was my first choice, but the mixed reviews had me kind of iffy. I also looked into Duran but most of her patients are smaller. I'm 5'8 217lbs and I think that Dr. Mercedes is the best option for me and what I want. Anybody looking for a surgery sister? Let me know! Updated on 28 Feb 2021: So I scheduled my SX for April 13. I fly in 4/10. Any ladies scheduled for this time? They want me to stay 12 days after but I don’t think I’ll stay in a RH the entire time. Ladies let me know if you’ve scheduled.
I had a BBL with Lipo 360 and Tummy tuck with muscle repair with Doctor Mercedes. He is the kindest Doctor and so safe. I am very happy with my results and will be returning for a second surgery for a breast lift. This doctor is truly a miracle worker!! Forever grateful!
Looking for a surgery sister! Hoping to schedule with Fatima Almonte at the end of March or beginning of April. There is a discount offered for groups of two or more. If any ladies are going around this time and want to a surgery sister please let me know! Im having a Tummy tuck, 360 lipo and BBL this round. Super excited about this journey but don't want to go alone if I don't have to. Updated on 11 Jan 2020: Update! No March or April availability. Beginning of May it is! These were the dates given. Updated on 31 Jan 2020: Just an update, been super busy lately! Unfortunately I can make my availability work with Dr. Almonte so I've decided to go with a different doctor in April 2020. Good luck to everyone on their journey!! Updated on 5 Feb 2020: Booked for may 6th arriving 2-3 days early! Anyone going around this time? The staff have been super cool and helpful with working with my availability! If anyone is going at this time shoot me a message and good luck to everyone!
Hey girls I jus paid deposit and set date for may 29th for tummy tuck and bbl I have 2 children 28 year old looking for a surgery sister to join me! I'm flying out from Vancouver bc on the 24th and staying at rocio Ortega recovery home until June 10th is anyone thinking of getting a procedure from dr Mercedes in DR around the same time that wants to join me?
I have been researching for about 2 years and I finally leave tomorrow. I originally was looking at Duran but then I noticed all of her dolls were small. I came across Dr Mercedes and decided that he was the one for me. I am 41 years old, 5'3" and 204lbs. I am planning to get TT, BBL and lipo. Dr Mercedes says the I should be able to get all 3 just as long as my hemp is good. I am all packed and my flight leaves at 6am. I will be staying at Serenity Recovery house. Updated on 16 Dec 2019: I arrived yesterday as planned. It was a nightmare once I arrived at SDQ. It literally took me 2 hours to get through immigration. They only had 3 counters open for thousands of people. I think all of the flights arrived in at the same time and my wait was 2 hours in line. Some were way longer than 2 hours. Luckily I got in line when I did. Once I made it through, everything was fine. My driver was waiting for me as I exited the ramp with my name on a board and we went to the recovery house. I had to be to Dr Mercedes’ office today at 7am. It is now 12pm and I am waiting to see a pulmonologist. I’ve done my preop testing which included bloodwork, urinalysis, a sonogram of my legs and a chest X-ray. Hopefully I won’t be here too much longer. Dr Mercedes is not in today due to pink eye but his assistant Suzan is very helpful. She said that I will see the doctor tomorrow before my surgery. Updated on 20 Dec 2019: What a painful, traumatic experience. I had my surgery on December 17 as planned. I had to arrive at 4:30 am. I waited maybe 15 minutes before being escorted to a room. Dr Mercedes came in and took one before pictures on an IPad. A little while later, an endocrinologist came in to speak to me regarding my diabetes. All of my tests were good and I was cleared for surgery. Dr Mercedes come in an asked me to undress. He started to mark me up and confirmed my procedures. A nurse came in and gave me the blue pill and a few minutes later I was wheeled away. I slightly remember waking up during the lipo procedure on my back but I didn’t feel anything. I later remember waking up in a lot pain. I felt nauseous and I was vomiting. I believe it was around midnight when Dr Mercedes appeared and took me to an ICU unit. Turns out my blood sugar was extremely high and my hemo was extremely low. I was there for 4 days. I had a nurse in the room with me around the clock and I was her only patient. I had to get several blood transfusions. Dr Mercedes checked in on me at least 3-4 times each day. On day 4 I was transferred to a regular room which was the worst experience ever. I had an overnight nurse from the recovery house to stay with me and she was good. The staff nurses were not. I felt like a bother I them and I couldn’t wit to leave. Dr Mercedes came to see me at about 6am and told me that I could go to the recovery house. Everything was stabilized. I just arrived to the recovery house and these ladies have been great so far. I am in a lot of pain from the lipo on my back. The tummy tuck feels fine. I’ll be getting a massage today to relieve one of the fluid which I am told is what’s causing the pain. I’ll update tomorrow. Updated on 21 Dec 2019: I am at Day 4. Each day feels a little better than before. It still hurts like hell. The nurses at the recovery house are great. There are only 2 of us patients here I guess due to the holidays. The other patient leaves on Wednesday so I’ll be the only one. I leave on Sunday, 12/29. It will be a lonely Christmas but it was the best time for me to take an extended absence from work so I made the sacrifice. It’s reallly hard to walk. I am extremely independent so it is difficult for me to be so dependent on others for little things like getting up to use the restroom or to bathe. I will be glad when this part of the process is over. I get another massage today. I am looking forward to it because it relieves some of the pain. Updated on 22 Dec 2019: A better day today. I just had my third massage. Tomorrow I go see Dr Mercedes for my first follow up. I’m terribly homesick and can’t wait to get home. I still haven’t really seen my new body yet. It’s hard to stand up straight and there aren’t any full length mirrors here. I do know that when I look down, I no longer just see stomach. That’s awesome in itself. Hopefully I’ll have some pics soon. Updated on 24 Dec 2019: I will say that I did not expect the pain to be so intense. I am officially 1 week post of today. I know that I have a very low tolerance for pain from when I had my c-section but I expected to be better off by now. My back is killing me. I saw Dr Mercedes yesterday for my follow up. I am now in my stage 2 faja. It’s super tight. I also have a burn on my back from when I was in the ICU. The masseuse told me to get oxygen chamber treatment. She said the same happened to her when she got her TT. It comes from agitation to your back while you’re laying on it. Im going to inquire about that today. I leave to go home in 5 days but I can’t see how I’m going to be able to walk long enough to get through the airports. I question this decision everyday. Updated on 24 Dec 2019: I was having a moment earlier of regrets but I feel better this afternoon. Updated on 27 Dec 2019: I had my final appointment with the doctor today. I have to keep my drain in going home and find a masseuse back home who will continue my massages and draining my back. I’m sure that will be a challenge. I am excited about going home in 2 days but the whole drain thing makes me very nervous. I’ve asked my family to start looking for masseuses in our area who does this. I am much better today with walking and doing some things without assistance. That feels great. When I look back to a week ago, I wouldn’t have imagined feeling as good as I do today. I know that a week from now will be even better. Updated on 4 Jan 2020: I got home 4 days ago. I still have the drain. I’m suppose to take it out once it only drains 50 cc or less. I’m still at about 100. I found someone to do my massages. They are really expensive. I’ve had 2 so far and i always feel better afterwards. I am still in a lot of pain in my back. My stomach feels tight but it’s not painful at all. The pain is in my back from the lipo. I like my results but the pain frustrates me so much that I haven’t really been able to enjoy my results yet. Everyone tells me this part of the process is normal. I’ve spoken to several dolls and they all said that you don’t really appreciate it until about a month post op. I’m just taking it day by day. I can’t wait to get to 1 month. Updated on 12 Jan 2020: Took my drain out today. It didn't hurt at all. I'm so glad to finally have it out. Overall I feel about 65% myself. I'm getting there. I'm standing a little straighter now. I'm not sure if I mentioned that you walk hunched over for a while due to the tummy tuck. I'm still very swollen in my stomach area but I am starting to appreciate my results. I plan to go back to work tomorrow. I'm very happy to start feeling normal again and getting back into my routines. Dr Mercedes texted me asking how I was feeling the other day which was nice. He has an amazing bedside manner and was very concerned my whole time in the DR. He checked on me frequently. He calls everyone baby so it was always "baby how are you feeling". I thought his assistant Suzan was very helpful. She speaks English and she was the one who gathered my info, my payment and gave me my post op instructions. I would say Suzan is more like an Admin Asst. I didn't care too much for his other assistant Yesenia. She is his medical assistant. She was very rough in changing my bandages and she talked on her cell phone the whole time. She also put me into my stage 2 faja. Not gentle at all. There was another medical assistant as well but I didn't get her name. She was very nice also. I heard some other dolls say they preferred her over Yesenia but just my luck, I always got Yesenia. I'll post some pics tomorrow in my clothes for work. Updated on 19 Jan 2020: Updated on 3 Mar 2020: I wanted to share some pics of my stomach. I have a scar above my belly button. I believe this came when I was bandaged up. It possibly could have come from the lipo. I'm not really sure. I put vitamin E and bio oil on all of my scars everyday. Anyway, I'm about 2 and a half months post op. I so love my results. It was all worth it. I've been still getting my lymphatic massages once a week although I am going to stop soon. It's getting to be expensive and I am no longer retaining fluid so I don't think I need them anymore. They just feel so good which is why I haven't stopped yet. I am still wearing my faja about 22-23 hours a day. I actually ordered the next size down from Amazon because I lost so much weight. The new faja is a XL and it fits nice and snug. I lost about 30 lbs since my surgery. I'm very happy about that. Im 5'3" and currently 177lbs. I want to get to about 165. My butt is not as big as it was but it's nicely proportioned to my new shape so I'm happy with it. I've had to go shopping for new clothes. My clothes are a medium now versus XL prior to my surgery. All in all, I feel good. Updated on 24 Mar 2020: I started wearing a waist trainer over my faja. So far, so good. I’m hoping to get down to a 30” waist. Updated on 17 Dec 2020: Today is my one year anniversary and boy has it been a journey. I’ve been thinking about my experience all week. This was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. In fact, I am ready for a round 2. I want to have more lipo 360, lipo in my arms and to have my butt and hips rounded more. I’m thinking late in 2021. During this time last year, I was so regretful and I couldn’t have imagined how much this surgery would have changed my life. I am so happy that I did it. My confidence is through the roof now and I absolutely love to shop. If you are contemplating surgery, my suggestion is do it. You may have regrets in the short term but that will pass quickly and you will be happy.
Hello! thank you for your question Based in the information you are a great candidate for liposuction, make sure your laboratories are good to have the surgery and continue your healthy plan with exercises and meals before and after the surgery. Discuss with your surgeon the best options for you
Hello! thank you for your question Based in the pictures and information is prefferable to plan a tummy tuck with liposuction, this can be combined with a bbl. Always check with a certified plastic surgeon and make sure you have the hemoglobine levels before surgery to get the best results
Hello; thanbk you for the question Bsed in your information you would be a great candidate for a liposuction and a bbl. Always look for a board certified plastic surgeon to get the best results
Greetings: Thank you for sharing your pictures and questions. I personally recommend you to have a BMI under 30 to help you with your results and to avoid extra risks. It is hard to tell based just in puctures, but at the moment i would recommend you a tummy tuck with liposuction to achieve a flat stomach
Hello; thank you for sharing your question and pictures. Your would have to check first your current BMI (Body Mass Index) this is a relation between your weight and height. Your BMI should be 30 or less for your safety and to achieve the best results for liposuction and bbl
