Can the BBL process be used strictly to shape an already big buttocks?

Thank you for your question. Photos would've been helpful. Yes, you are right, it is not the size alone that creates an aesthetic buttock, but it is also the shape. What you describe is a "violin" deformity. The excess fat needs to be removed from the upper buttock/hip area, lower back fat pad and waist line, and fat transferred into the depressed areas to create a rounded, shorter buttock. it is hard to tell for sure without an examination. Generally speaking, fat transfer can be used in order to reshape the buttocks not only to increase the size.  If you are considering a surgery, I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations.

Without photos or an exam, it is impossible to provide specific feedback to your question. You may need an inferior buttock lift, posterior lower body lift, and liposuction.  Consult with a board certified PS who is an expert in all three procedures.

Fat transfer, along with liposuction allows your plastic surgeon to transform your entire shape. You can improve your abdomen, hips, back and flanks, and of course your buttock, to give you a nice heart shape.
In general, you need to be physically healthy and at a stable weight, have realistic expectations, be a non-smoker and your BMI needs to be 30 or less.
l recommend you to make an appointment with a board certified plastic surgeon to talk about your goals and anything you need to know.

It is impossible to give you specific advice about realistic outcomes for you without at least seeing photos, but yes in general a big butt with a less attractive shape can be improved with a BBL. 

Thank you for your question. The BBL procedure is not a one size fits pall procedure. Everyone patient has a different desire and some patients body limits the ultimate result. I would tell you yes, this procedure can be used to contour an already large buttocks. Addition by subtraction is just as important to the end result as is adding fat. Many of our patients simply want a better contour without a significant size difference and this is commonly achievable. I hope this helps. Be sure to consult with a board certified plastic surgeon who performs this procedure in your area.

Without pictures or clinical exam, it’s impossible to say. That aside, you can improve overall aesthetics with well-placed fat injections without increasing the overall volume too much.  Find a surgeon who is well-versed in that procedure and does a lot of them including revision work.

A combination of liposuction and fat grafting (BBL) can be done to reshape the buttocks. The term BBL implies creating a larger and at times more round butt by adding a volume with fat grafting. 
 But definition volume is added. It's very difficult to create a substantial difference in shape without adding at least some volume. Perhaps what you need is liposuction rather than fat transfer or possibly a combination of both.  A substantial part of the results from a BBL is in fact from the liposuction of the waist and love handles or like in your case the lower back. 
 Without pictures it's hard to give any specific recommendations. I suggest you have a few in person consultations or post with pictures.
