When can I get SMP after FUE hair transplant?

If you are considering SMP, it is best to speak to your surgeon to see when your donor area is healed and safe for the SMP procedure.

Normally it is best to wait 45-60 days after FUE before SMP to allow the recipient and donor areas to heal.

Thank you for your question. With the way technology has advanced, it is likely that your FUE Transplant is more successful now than 6 years ago. Please keep in mind that it takes a few weeks for the hair to fall out, followed by a restart of the regrowth process. Always work with a board certified facial plastic surgeon.

You need to wait 4-6 weeks until the donor shows no signs of FUE post op changes. Then go for the SMP. We offer this as well.

There is no hard, fast rule for when SMP can be performed, but typically after a few months once all the sites have healed, patients may go forward with SMP. Make sure you go to an experienced person to do the procedure as the ink may spread more in scar tissue making an unnatural appearance. 

I recommend that patients wait for roughly 6 months before having an SMP treatment done on the donor area. This will give the area enough time to heal before the treatment.
