I am 28 years old and just had a FUE transplant 5 days ago. I have been taking Finasteride for several years though I give break of one to two months after continuously taking it for several months. I haven't taken it for more than a month now. I would like to re continue. Should i start taking it now or wait for some time? My doctor asked me to go for PRP and other methods but i would like to use Finasteride as it has done good for me.

Answer: Restarting finasteride after surgery I would recommend restarting finasteride immediately. This prevents any further hair loss and the potential need for a hair transplant down the line. With regards to PRP, as long as you are informed of the side effect profile of the finasteride I would stick with what works for you and you are happy with.

Answer: Finasteride to prevent hair loss Thank you for your question. You should immediately resume your finasteride. As you report, this medication has worked for you. Finasteride works by reducing the production of DHT, the principal cause of androgenetic hair loss. The addition of PRP is a good recommendation as it can provide growth factors to give a more robust response to your hair restoration procedure.I hope this was helpful - Dr. Moore.
