Can I sleep flat on my back after breast augmentation 9 days ago?

Question

I had a breast augmentation 9 days ago (submuscular split, textured, 275cc Mentor implants) and had been told to wear a compression band for 6 weeks 24/7. Can I sleep flat on my back now or do I still need to be sat slightly upright? If not, why not? Finding it difficult to get comfortable enough to sleep trying to prop my back up onto pillows.

My patients go back to sleeping flat on their back after 3 to 4 days. I don't see a problem with this, but your plastic surgeon should give you the go ahead. Best wishes, Dr. Aldo

Congratulations on your breast augmentation.  In my practice I allow patients to lie flat on her back after the first week to 10 days.  However it is best that you ask your plastic surgeon and not rely on Internet advice.

Your best resource is your surgeon.  I have no problem with my patients sleeping flat on their back 9 days post op as long as they are supported by the breast band or sports bra.
