I got dermal filler in my nose (dorsal hump) yesterday afternoon, and I'm wondering if the filler got "messed up" while I slept?

Question

I tried to sleep on my back, but when I woke up, my face was buried in the pillow! My nose doesn't look messed up, but I'm still curious about how long it takes the filler to "set." I got it done around 2 pm, and when to bed at midnight.

The only restriction, after a non-surgical nose job, is to avoid putting pressure or glasses on the area treated for 2 weeks. We believe that the filler will become completely immobilized two weeks after your treatment. I hope this helps! Sincerely, Dr Joseph

It takes about 24 hours for a dermal filler to fully set up and with aggressive massage you can still sculpt the filler even after that.  You can expect some swelling to your nose following dermal filler injections especially the morning after.  If your nose does not look different than when you had the filler placed then you are probably doing just fine and there is no need for concern.

Thank you so much for your question.  After a non-surgical rhinoplasty, the filler can stay moldable for a few days after injection.  Don't worry, though, if you accidentally slept on your face....fillers used in the nose can be tweaked even weeks after your procedure.  That is the beauty of hyaluronic acid-based fillers.  Use ice to calm down any swelling that may still be occurring, and, if you are concerned, visit your physician who performed the non-surgical rhinoplasty and ask him/her to take a look and make sure everything is settling well.  Wishing you so much bliss on your journey!

Thanks for this question. As your nose does "not looked messed up", you are most likely perfect. In general, filler can be molded in the first few hours and possibly as long as 24 hours after injection. It depends on the type of filler (amount of cross-links), the volume of filler (more filler - more mobility), and the location on the body (tighter space - less mobility).  Hope this helps!

I have extensive experience in nonsurgical/ liquid nose jobs and I really hate telling you that post-treatment care is very important. I would go back to my Surgeon/injector and have the nose assessed. 
Moving forward, try to sleep upright in a sitting position for 5 days. Resist applying pressure in any way.  A little caution goes a long way in ensuring success.
