Its pretty common to have a small amount of drainage after a large procedure like a fleur de lis tummy tuck especially where the 2 sides meet the lower incision. This can be treated with some local wound care and clean dry dressings. I would make sure your plastic surgeon has seen it and he can help guide you the best way to make sure you heal as fast as possible.
Thank you for sharing your question and photographs and congratulations on your FDL TT. This drainage does appear normal for the extent of surgery that was performed and I would continue to keep a clean gauze dressing over any area with persistent leakage. This should fully heal in a few weeks but maintain close follow up with your surgeon to ensure an uncomplicated recovery.
It isn't unusual to get some discharge from long wounds such as these, and it is most likely at the "T" . So long as it is decreasing gradually, and isn't associated with feeling unwell or redness around the site, it is usually safely managed with simple dressings and your surgical team keeping an eye on things. Good luck!
pamiam824. It is not uncommon to experience drainage for several weeks after this type of surgery, but always better to check in with your surgeon. Good luck!
I looked at your pictures. It's not totally normal, but most likely will be ok.Incisions should seal in the first 2-4 days and have drainage stop. But, it's not uncommon for drainage to persist longer.Keep an eye out for increasing pain, redness, fevers, or wound separation. You also might benefit from another round of antibiotics.See your doctor today.Don't worry. I suspect everything will heal well!Dr Chris Saunders
It is normal to have discharge at the join of the incisions and this should decrease. I would see your PS for reassurance. All looks to be healing appropriately.
Thank you for your question. Usually by this time it should be dry. I recommend to see your PS for evaluation make sure no infection or seroma and to evaluate the incision under the tape.
It is a bit unusual but not that unusual for your incision to drain a bit at 19 days. Perhaps you have some incision issues underneath the tape. Best to review in person with your surgeon.
It is common for drains to be longer than in a traditional abdominoplasty. Yellowish/tan drainage is also common. Of course, infection is always a risk while drains are in so if there is any question it is always best to be seen by your surgeon to be sure.
Thanks for your question. I would suggest you follow up with your surgeon so that he/she can inspect your incisions and make sure everything is OK.
Thanks for this great question. Historically, in performing a tummy tuck we would lift up the skin, remove the excess and then just lay it back down, using a binder to help the skin stick down and promote healing. Some have found that instead of just laying the skin down, sewing it back down...

Hello, thanks for sharing your question. From your photos, your scars look like they've healed very well. While an in person consultation with a qualified plastic surgeon is the best way to get an evaluation and recommendations, you do look as though you may have some extra tissue left...
