I was hit in the nose about 6 months ago pretty hard right on the bridge of my nose. It hit hard enough to bust open my skin and when i press on it i feel pressure and there is a bump. Will it be there forever? If so is there a Way i can get the bump to go away.
Answer: Dorsal bump on nose Great question! A dorsal bump on the nose is often a tell sign that you had nasal trauma. The bump is due to either a fracture of the bone or disassociation between the nasal bone and nasal cartilages. There is no functional issue leaving it alone, but more of a cosmetic issue. Yes it will stay there forever unless you have surgery to correct it.Best of luck and hope this information helps!- Dr. Roger Tsai @DrRogerTsai

Answer: Yes, an injury to the nose can cause a dorsal bump. Dear kayla taylor in City of Industry, California: If you were hit 6 months ago and now you have a bump, you probably had a broken nose. If your skin was torn, that suggests again it was a significant forceful injury. What you have now is probably what you are going to have. The best way to get rid of it is to have a rhinoplasty. Be sure to consult with surgeon who are experienced. You want somebody who has a long track record in performing rhinoplasty. Look at their before and after photo galleries. Check out the section on computer imaging showing the predicted result and the final result. You want to see how well they match and whether or not you would be similarly advantaged to have computer imaging, which of course you should have. Why have a consultation without it? Look at the patient reviews. Bring a friend or family member to the consultation and be sure to submit a list of questions to the doctor even before you go for consultation. You must do your homework to make a good decision. You want to do it right the first time. Best wishes, Robert Kotler, MD, FACS

Answer: Nasal trauma Unfortunately, you can get a hump on your nose from trauma. The hump is essentially a scar tissue that can form on the nasal bone. You can wait at least a few months to see if it subsides. If it does not, you may need a rhinoplasty to get rid of the hump. Good luck~
