Why is middle bone part of my nose wider and looks swollen to both sides? Is it a broken nose or something different? (Photo)

From the photos, it appears that the nose is deflected some to the right, which can make the nose look asymmetrical. Rhinoplasty can help straighten the nose and decrease the issues you are having. Be sure to see a rhinoplasty specialist for consultation.

Hello,Thanks for your question. That area is known as the Keystone area. It is where the nasal bones flare and connect to the central septal cartilage. This is normal for you but can have been altered a bit by the nasal traumas in the past. It can be improved with rhinoplasty surgery if you do not like the shape.Good luck,Dr. Shah

Nasal trauma with nasal bleeding may indicate a previous nasal fracture. You appear to have an indentation along the sidewall of your nose that may be leading to a crooked appearance. Depending on your examination, you may be a candidate for nonsurgical rhinoplastic treatments to add volume to your left nasal sidewall for a straighter nasal appearance. Hope this helps! Dr Joseph

The nature of the crooked nose is always difficult to evaluate without examination. Based on the photographs you have posted however it looks like you have deviation of the septum.  Without an exam, it will not be possible to fully evaluate you and give you recommendations.  Be sure to discuss your goals and concerns with your board certified plastic surgeon and consider the pros and the cons. Why your nose looks like this really isn't the issue. What to do about it is. That would take an evaluation by your local rhinoplasty doctor. Very fixable.

From the very limited photographs, it appears the nose is twisted, crooked, previously broken. The nasal bones are asymmetrical and  displaced outwards. In addition, on the right side there appears to be a concave upper-level cartilage below the nasal bones which may require spreader graft to make it symmetrical with the opposite side. Medial  and lateral osteotomies in the nasal bones are required to straighten and narrow this nose. Also important to evaluate the internal portion of the nose  to see if there are other issues such as a deviated septum. Rhinoplasty is a very difficult endeavor,  so choose your surgeon wisely based on extensive experience straightening crooked noses.

The view from underneath your nose shows an asymmetry but other than that it is impossible to know what is wrong or how to fix it. Most likely it is as a result of the multiple blows to your nose and the ensuing scar tissue. See a plastic surgeon for an evaluation and recommendation. Good luck.

Based on your photos, you seem to have a deviated nasal bridge and a bulbous tip. Depending on the reason for your bulbous tip- surgery may require defatting the tip, cartilage grafting, and/or reshaping, this will reduce the width and bulbosity of your nose. The bridge of your nose can be slimmed down and straightened. I recommend doing research on facial plastic surgeons who have experience in rhinoplasties and scheduling a consultation. During the consultation you can ask to have your nose computer imaged so you and the surgeon can discuss what changes you would like to make. This will also give you a realistic picture of what your nose could look like. There are many before/after pictures on line that can help you decide which surgeons work you like.
