Is there anything to help with lipo bruising?

Typically with liposuction there is very little bruising.  I have all my patients take arnika forte starting a day or two prior and continuing for a week after.  compression is very important post operatively and will help with decreasing swelling and bruising.  ask your doctor for his pre and post operative instructions.  Best, Dr. Emer.

Bruising is often minimal after this procedure unless your dietary supplements, NSAID medications, certain vitamins, or history of easy bruising. Bruising and swelling are normal in the suctioned areas and usually increase slightly after the removal of any tape or foam. The bruising will decrease over 3-4 weeks, but may last as long as 6 weeks. The majority of the swelling will be gone within the first 3-4 weeks. However it may take 6-9 months to disappear completely. The compression garment helps reduce the swelling, and the longer it is worn, the more quickly the process will proceed. Some lasers and Arnica Gel may also help bruising from #liposuction.

Generally liposuction yields very little bruising. Patients on aspirin and similar drugs are asked to refrain for a few days beforehand. Bruising regardless of how significant has no effect on the long-term outcome.

Some surgeons like to use Arnica. This is a homeopathic medication that tends to help decrease bruising. Asher sure has his or her opinion about the use of Arnica. 

Bruising and swelling are common after liposuction. The  instructions are usually given during your pre-op appointment-- follow up with your Surgeon

The main factor in determining bruising, if you don't have a clotting disease, is surgical technique. If the suction technique is rough and traumatizing, no amount of medication or treatment will prevent bruising. However, even after the gentlest procedures, you should expect some bruising. I find that a compression garment with foam (I use Reston foam) reduces the bruising tremendously. In fact, you can see bruising beyond the edges of the foam and no bruising directly under the foam. You can have major bruising with liposuction. I have found that Emu oil can help with the bruising and inflammation.

There are a number of things that you can do to reduce the bruising from your surgery. First, you need to stop all aspirin and anti-inflammatory medications several weeks before the surgery. You should also look up all foods containing Vitamin E and try to reduce them as much as possible for the same period. Additionally, you should stop taking all Multivitamins containing Vitamin E and stop all other vitamins and supplements. Secondly, you should take Arnica Montana and Bromelain beginning about 5 days pre-op and continuing until the bruising has resolved. The first things reduce the amount of bruising. The last 2 meds do that and speed the absorption. Good luck on obtaining your desires.
