Hi Feri. Thank you for your question. It would be interesting to know what kind of doctor did your liposuction. I say this because liposuction is the one cosmetic surgery procedure that, in my opinion, is done by unqualified practitioners more than any other. Anyone with an MD may take a weekend course, buy the equipment, and start sucking away on Monday in their office. I have seen many cases where a doctor only removed fat from the lower part of the abdomen where there was a bulge but didn't touch the upper part. In those cases any weight gain will result in a disproportionate accumulation of fat on the upper abdomen. If that is the situation in your case then it would be an easy fix to go back and do it right but it should be done by a plastic surgeon certified by The American Board of Plastic Surgery. The only other possibility as has been mentioned is a seroma, or fluid collection, which is rare although it can happen. If your surgery was done by a board certified surgeon ten go back and see him/her so they can figure out what is going on and resolve it for you, If it was done by a non plastic surgeon then you would be better off going to someone else who is better qualified. I hope this helps.
3-6 months after surgery you should notice the ultimate result of your procedure and the swelling should be completely resolved. If you are larger than you were previously, you need to be evaluated by another physician with experience in liposuction procedure and see if there is anything that can be done. If your diet and exercise has been consistent and good, you should have been seen skin tightening and improved contour by now. Liposuction is an art and requires a detailed, skilled surgeon. I would gladly see you in the office for an evaluation. I specialize in high definition cases and see patients everyday who want improved contour and shape, as well as those patients who need revision because the procedure was not performed properly the first time. Best, Dr. Emer.
Although there still may be modest swelling five months after liposuction you should by now see significant improvement. Time to visit your plastic surgeon.
You should follow up with your plastic surgeon as this could be a seroma (fluid pocket) which would need drainage.
There is only two reasons your abdomen is bigger: a late seroma or gain weight after surgery.Attend your doctor and he/she will determine what the reason is.Photos will be a great help.Dr. Cardenas
At this point in time swelling should be down and if you have not gained weight need to see your surgeon to find out what is going on Dr Corbin
Thanks for your question Feri. I'm sorry you are not pleased with the results of your procedure. I would advise you to discuss your concerns with your PS or maybe seek a second opinion with another board certified PS in your area to evaluate you and discuss options. Good luck
After liposuction you experience a lot of swelling, which contributes to weight fluctuation in the beginning. In order to have the best results, it is good to have a well-balanced diet, including carbohydrates, fruits, vegetables, and proteins. You should be careful not to overeat and increase...
Thank you for your question.A specific procedure called lipoabdominoplasty (liposuction + tummy tuck) might be a good procedure for you. For best results, get to a stable weight that you can safely maintain prior to surgery. For long lasting results, keep this weight after surgery. To be...
An exam is needed to see if you are even a candidate for liposuction. Possibly most of your bulging is due to muscle separation. Or bulging can be caused by internal fat. In either case you will not benefit from liposuction. If you have external fat this can be...
