I have some volume loss in my face, due to weight loss, and age. My biggest concern is the lax skin around my mouth and jowls. I have developed 2 shadows/dimples/divets in my chin area. Maybe from the excess skin in that area? I have quite a bit of volume loss in the temples too, especally my left. Suggested fix is 2-3ml Voluma in cheeks and 2ml in temples. I'm told this is how to address my lower face concerns. Is this so? Is this enough? 43 yo, female, 5'7, 130lbs
Answer: Will Voluma work in temples, cheeks, and chin Hello, and thank you for your question. Filler can be a great option to replace volume loss and to help restore structure to the face. By treating the upper face, this will help treat the lower face, however, you may still need product in your lower face. As we age, we lose volume and structure (bone, fat, muscle,) which makes skin sagging worse. Gravity pulls down, so if we start by treating the upper face, it can help pull parts of the lower face “up”. I would suggest consulting with your provider and discuss if filler would be a good option for you in the lower face.

Answer: Recommend developing long term plan The suggested filler to cheeks and temples would help restore volume and balance your overall features, but it is not addressing other signs on aging in the lower face. While a profile image was not provided, I can see some blunting to your chin that suggests you may benefit from jawline/chin filler. Additionally the divots you pointed out- I like to call them chin shadows, can results from volume loss in that area and would need filler directly to the shadows to improve. In addition to what was suggested, you may benefit from lower face Volux/Voluma. I would recommend developing a long term plan with your injector to treat these areas over a few months.

Answer: Facial rejuvenation Thanks for your question. I think Voluma and to the cheeks and temples is a fine plan. I do note that your skin is aging and you would benefit from microneedling with radiofrequency. Consider treating your skin prior to filler with Morpheus 8 for complete facial rejuvenation. Make sure you consult with a board certified plastic surgeon.

Answer: Volume loss Voluma is typically used for mid face concerns, although it can be used in other areas. The great thing about fillers is that you can go slowly and build up to the look you want. We recommend using medical grade skin care products like Transform MD and wearing sunscreen every day to keep skin looking healthy. You can also consider peels and microneedling to improve overall skin tone and texture.
