Answer: Periareolar incision Wound healing should not be assessed by photos alone, as a clinical examination and evaluation provides a lot of useful information. It would be useful to clean off the scabs on the Right areola to see if all is well with the wound underneath. I would expect a wound at 11 days to be clean, dry and intact with no gaps (which it may well be under the scabs). The Left periareolar wound looks fine in the photo, but the nipple-areola complex does look significantly more swollen than the Right. This may actually be fine and certainly there is no redness in the photos to suggest infection. However, the best way to be sure is to return to your surgeon for a clinical evaluation.

Answer: Peri-areolar Incision Healing Properly? The photos are not all clear, but there does not seem to be a major issue here. Small areas of separation are not unusual. However to be sure, check back with your surgeon who will be better able to help you after an exam. It is too early to make any judgments about appearance of the nipple/areola complex as there is still a fair amount of swelling that will need to resolve.
