2019 I had a VP shunt placed for Idiopathic intracranial hypertension due to obesity. I’ve lost the weight and my neurologist cleared me for tummy tuck & willing to provide shunt roadmap how can I find a surgeon to perform the procedure? Any suggestions? Should I ask to get the shunt removed?

Answer: Tummy tuck Dear NurseDee87, it is hard to tell for sure without an examination. You will need to get a clearance from your doctor prior to surgery. If you are considering surgery, I would suggest you consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination, you will get more information and recommendations. Answer: Shunt If your shunt is not needed, then it can be removed. You can have a tummy tuck, but your surgeon will stay out of the area of the shunt unless it is removed first. Your surgeon will need a letter from your neurologist giving medical clearance for surgery.
