When is it safe to kiss after a lip lift?

Great question. A quality lip lift is done by supporting the lip with deep sutures, which provide majority of the support during the first couple of months. These will hold against everyday forces of movements, but not excessive ones. Kissing (passionately) creates movement in the area of surgery and should be avoiding for at least 6 weeks. We want to give the body a chance to heal enough to give some of it’s own support. The longer you wait, the more strength there is in the area of incision and less chance of creating a problem. I have my patients stop topical creams (ie Tretnoin) 1 week prior to surgery. Hope this helps.

It's best to follow your surgeon's post-operative instructions regarding kissing after a lip lift, as healing times can vary (the healing time associated with my 3D lip lift is usually very quick, as an example). Regarding tretinoin, you should typically stop using it at least a week before the surgery to minimize skin irritation and potential complications.
