I had some topical numbing gel applied before getting 1 ml of Juvederm Refine in my upper and lower lip. One entry point was particularly painful and now that area is still abit numb. Also a small ball has formed in my lip at that spot that is slightly (very slightly blueish/purple) can this be a nicked vein? Or just a ball of product? Does is go away- or is it serious? I am happy with my lips otherwise . They look beautifully natural and plump. I just had the injections today.
Answer: Has anyone nicked a vein from lip filler or has had a ball form and go away? Thank you for your question and for sharing your photographs. As you had your injections just done today your current results are demonstrating swelling from the trauma of the injections. I can see your area of concern regarding the area of fullness and this is likely the filler material that was just placed. Final results will often take up to two weeks after treatment to develop during which the filler will soften and appear more natural. Hang in there and allow your lips time to heal, I think you will obtain a very nice result. Hope this helps.

Answer: Swelling/Bruising/Lumpiness (early) from Fillers I always tell my patients to not love their filler injections for 2 weeks. Swelling is very common and sometimes immediate. It can last 3-7 days and a good idea is to use cold compresses. Cold compresses may be used immediately after treatment to reduce swelling only if needed. This may be applied for 3 minutes, 3 times per day, for up to 3 days. This is best done with a bag of peas in a zip lock bag. Only apply light pressure to the area but gentle massage might be necessary if the bump is from the filler material itself. Get Arnica gel if you can find some and apply a few times a day as well to help treat any swelling. Avoid any blood thinners. Bruising can also last 1-2 weeks. I don't recommend hyaluronidase this early and wait a few weeks until the swelling has resolved. If it is persistent or you are worried, set up a follow up appointment with your dermatologist.

Answer: Lip filler Hello, and thanks for your question. Post-filler swelling can take 1-2 weeks to fully subside, so it may be early to assess your final result. If you are not pleased with your final result, the product can be dissolved with injection of an enzyme called hyaluronidase. To maximize the likelihood of a favorable outcome, I recommend that you only get treated by a well-trained and experienced dermatologist or plastic surgeon. Hope this opinion is helpful to you. Best of luck, Dr. Frucht.

Answer: Bump after lip filler This appears to be an accumulation of filler. I would wait for about 10 days for things to settle down. If there remains a bump, it can be dissolved with hyaluronidase. See link.

Answer: Final Result After Juvederm Thank you for your question and for sharing your postprocedure photographs. Sorry that you are having some concerns about your postprocedure appearance. Please keep in mind that it will take 2 weeks to see your final result. Swelling and bruising after filler injection is normal, especially in the lips. Icing can help for up to 48 hours postprocedure. Arnica can also help to minimize postprocedure swelling and bruising. My best advice would be to give it a full 2 weeks to allow for normal postprocedure swelling and bruising to resolve and to see your final result. At that point, if you continue to have any concerns, please contact your injector for an in-person reevaluation in order to best address your concerns and to determine the best course of action. Best wishes!
