Rhinoplasty surgery is fairly complex and includes many different operations. When we make assessments and discuss treatment options for reshaping the nose, we usually divide the nose into individual subunits. A good assessment generally looks at each of the various subunits of the nose trying to get an understanding of what is out of balance, and what would look ideal. There is some subjectivity in regards to what a nose should look like, and for some people, there may be in the air limitations on what can be achieved. Certain rhinoplasty procedures are fairly simple and straightforward, while others may be highly complex, and require the skill of someone who has specialized exclusively in decades of rhinoplasty surgery. To maximize the chance of getting a quality outcome, I recommend patience, focus a significant amount of effort, and finding the right provider. in the hands of the range plastic surgeon, you’ll be guided through the process with a good understanding of what their recommendations are followed by an outcome that is consistent with what was recommended. We generally don’t view the nose out of context, but rather see the nose in relationship to other structures of the face. The shape and size of the chin for example, is very important to take in the consideration when looking at the notes on the profile picture. To get a quality assessment and begin the vetting process to find the best provider I suggest looking for local plastic surgeons in your community who seem to have a strong track record for rhinoplasty surgery. This generally means the provider should have a large number of quality before and after pictures on their website, but dad is not sufficient, nor is it a guarantee That you found the right provider. I personally recommend patients always schedule multiple consultations with different providers to get a sense of comparison. Considering the complexity of rhinoplasty surgery, and that not all plastic surgeons are good at this procedure I would say five consultations is probably appropriate. Bring pictures of your face, showing both the front and profile to use as a reference, when reviewing before and after pictures. During each consultation, ask each provider to open up your portfolio and show you their entire collection of before, and after pictures of previous patients, who had similar nasal and facial characteristics to your own. An experienced plastic surgeon should have no difficulty showing you the before and after pictures of at least 50 previous patients. A highly experienced plastic surgeon should in fact have hundreds or preferably thousands of before, and after pictures to choose from. Being shown a handful of preselected images representing only the best results other providers career is insufficient to get a clear understanding of an average results look like in the hands of each provider or how many of these procedures leave actually performed. Performed. The biggest mistake patients make is scheduling, only one consultation and then scheduling surgery. When in doubt, slow down and schedule more consultations. Never feel rushed to schedule surgery or make a deposit. I generally recommend patient never commit to having surgery on the same day as the consultation. Give yourself plenty of time to think about your decisions. Make sure you’ve canceled it with enough surgeons that you feel comfortable that you found someone who is truly exceptional at this procedure. Being a board-certified plastic surgeon with years of experience does not mean somebody has mastered every procedure, especially not complex operations like rhinoplasty surgery. Prices will vary dramatically, depending on supply in the man, how much work is involved and what geographic area you live in. The most expensive surgeons are not necessarily the best surgeons, but the best surgeons rarely give steep discounts. Good luck, Mats Hagstrom MD
