I need to know if my employer has refused to approve FMLA for me to get a TT and arm lift, how can I get the surgery done?

Thank you for your question and I am sorry that you have run into this timing issue with surgery and FMLA.  Unfortunately few patients can return to work after a TT that involves a muscle tightening procedure within a week.  Your best bet is to continue to accumulate PTO until you can ensure yourself at least two weeks of recovery at home.  This is a big step and big operation and you should not feel stressed about returning to work quickly.  Postpone your surgery for a better future timeframe.  Hope this helps.

FMLA paperwork does not guarantee leave for cosmetic surgery unless your employer specifically lists cosmetic surgery in the employee manual as a condition for leave and most don't. It does give the employer legal paperwork as to the reason you are taking leave, but that is all it does. You might have to wait until you have enough time off or wait until there is a slow period at work and ask for unpaid time off.

You may want to postpone your surgery until you can take the appropriate time off from work. FMLA is not a guarantee for leave from work for cosmetic procedures. Talk to your employer and see when it would be a good time for you to take unpaid leave without risking your job security.Good luck!
