Optimal candidates for surgery should have reached a healthy stable weight preferably with a BMI < 30. My recommendation is for pre-op weight loss. This will lower your overall surgical risk profile and likelihood of complications. With regards to your specific question, there is no quick fix. Cosmetic surgery is not a means for weight loss. Traditional diet and exercise are the first line. For those patients with a BMI of 35 (you are currently at BMI of 36) and associated comorbidites (diabetes, hypertension etc) you may qualify for insurance coverage of bariatric surgery (surgical weight loss).I would estimate a weight loss necessity of nearly 40 lbs (in order to dip below BMI of 30).As always, discuss your concerns with a board certified plastic surgeon (ABPS).
A good candidate has enough fat available for transfer in the procedure. The amount of fat that can be transferred in a BBL depends on how much fat the patient has to harvest and the amount of space there is to move the fat into. It is recommended for the patient to have a BMI of 30 or less. If you are too thin, a Brazilian Butt Lift may not be possible.
Plastic surgeons will have different opinions and comfort levels with regard to your BMI of 36.2 so it is best to ask the individual PS at your virtual or in-office consultation. Other factors than BMI are considered in approving a patient for a BBL. The two main reasons for targeting a BMI close to 30 is to minimize the risks of complications during and after surgery and to enhance results. Reaching a stable weight for six months prior to surgery is recommended. If you are having difficulty in shedding the pounds, schedule an appointment with your PCP to discuss weight and exercise programs. You do not want to spend the money for surgery and be disappointed with the results.
Hello dear! Thanks for the pictures and provided information as well.Based on your photos, you are a great candidate for liposuction with a BBL and a tummy tuck, to give you a nice tight tummy and to get rid of the extra skin, and I think you'll get very good results. For safety and recovery reasons, it is not advisable to combine these procedures. You can divide these procedures in two sessions, six months apart.Liposuction allows your plastic surgeon to transform your entire shape. You can improve your waist, back, arms, thighs, hips and flanks, and of course your buttock, to give you a beautiful heart shape, along with the tummy tuck.In general, you need to be physically healthy and at a stable weight, have realistic expectations, be a non-smoker and your BMI needs to be 30 or less.l recommend you to make an appointment with a board certified plastic surgeon to talk about your goals and anything you need to know.Good luck :)
Thank you for your photos and question. The recommended BMI prior to an elective surgery is less than 30 for health and safety reasons. Your current BMI is 36, so I would recommend losing some weight first to reduce rate of complications and optimize your results.Seek a board certified plastic surgeon who performs many of these procedures, has great reviews and photos, and is an expert in this field.
if avoiding complications is one of your highest priorities then you need to lose a significant amount of weight probably around 50 pounds. At that point you will most likely be a better candidate for a full abdominal plasty then a BBL but you could have both procedures. Complication rates increase significantly in obese patients as it does with extended combined procedures. Best of luck with your pursuit in weight loss and looking better. Best, Mats Hagstrom M.D.
