Based on your photos, you do have excess skin and muscle. I feel that a lower face and or a neck lift would give you the best results and satisfaction. You do look like an excellent candidate. Talk to several board certified surgeons experienced in face and neck rejuvenation to discuss your options.

A neck lift is not a singular procedure with a singular #method, but rather is an umbrella term describing a large range of operations with varying #incisions and skin-lifting #techniques, which have been developed and improved upon over the years.  Your board certified plastic surgeon will be familiar will be able to pair you with your perfect match of surgical approach based on your skin type and desired results.  The type of neck lift incision will depend upon your gender, your hairline and preferred hairstyles, any scars from previous surgeries, and a variety of other factors.  As a general rule, a #neck lift #incision starts right in front of or within the hairline on the temple, follows the curve of the front of the ear, travels underneath the earlobe, and ends at the hairline behind the ear.  There are also shorter #scar techniques preferred by many patients, which do not have incisions in the hairline.  Some patients who wish to have liposuction or tightening of their neck will need an additional incision under their #chin, which can be hidden in a natural skin fold.
The #scars will mature within six to twelve months from the surgery date. It is during this time that the rejuvenating effects of the facelift will become apparent and the real result will be seen. We find that scar reducing product, BioCorneum, appears to be very effective. Consulting with a board-certified plastic surgeon who specializes in #neck lift procedures is important to ensure you are receiving the best advice, care, and surgical experience possible. 

Platysmaplasties do well and are easy to undergo under local. The under the chin incision is hidden very well and I usually do a little lipo along the jawline to trim surrounding fat at the same time.

A platysmaplasty is required to repair the seperation of your platysma muscle in the center under your chin. This can be performed with or without skin removal and will be determined by your surgeon.

You should not be worried too much. It is very likely that you will have a satisfactory correction just with an anterior plication of platisma muscle bands and wide undermining of neck skin. You do not have jowls; possibly conservative liposuction along a jaw line with small cannula?  A small scar in front and behind ears will make it lower face/neck lift which may address all you concerns?Keep talking to your surgeon, you are on a good path. Thanks for your pictures. From what I can see, you have separation of the platysma muscles in the midline and you have excess skin and mild to moderate jowling. So yes, you are a candidate based on your photos. The anterior platysmatplasty will improve your neck bands, but it will not remove excess skin. What this means is that you will get an improvement in the shape and profile, but you will still have excess skin that if were to be removed via a mini lift or facelift, would further enhance your results by contouring your neck and jawline. This procedure will not make your jowls look worse. It will affect the shape of your neck, by making it more contoured, and should not affect your face. 

An anterior platysma plasty will not correct the excess skin in your neck and cheek. You would do better to have a full facelift with correction of not only the bands but the excess skin and early jowls in  your neck and cheek. Over 35 years I've seen many patients who were told  just doing what has been suggested for you only to have me  revise the neck And cheeks a year later. See 

and if you want more than just your band addressed, you should be considering a facelift of some sort.  If you would be completely happy with just the bands less noticeable, then the anterior corset platysmaplasty as suggested by your surgeon should do the trick for you.

 When the 2 cords are present in the front of the neck which is shown in the photographs, a platysma- plasty is required to tighten the  neck muscles. Also important to remove any fatty deposits above and below the platysma muscle. If excess skin is present, a lower face and neck lift with platysma plasty will be required.

You have platysmal bands that are present at rest.  The best way to treat this problem is to perform a face and neck lift combined with transection of the platysma muscle low in the neck.  This will provide comprehensive treatment of the entire face and neck.
