Did I cause damage? I'm 7 week post rhinoplasty and hit myself on the bridge of the nose with a cabinet door (Photo)

You're certainly not alone! Many of my patients have bumped their nose in some way or another afterrhinoplasty, and, fortunately, I haven't seen any permanent damage. However, if you are concerned, please contact your plastic surgeon so that he or she can take a closer look and determine if anything needs to be done. At 7 weeks post-op, your nose still has some residual swelling, so he or she will advise you accordingly.

You would be surprised how many rhinoplasty patients do this!! You are also a nice distance out from the surgery date and structures have solidified more.I have never seen permanent damage in my patients. Hopefully your bump will resolve over the next week. Call and talk to your PS and send photo. H eight want you to initiate a gentle massage program and or see you. 

At this stage in your healing process, your nose is stronger than it was before your surgery. Depending on how hard the blow was to your nose you may have caused damage. I recommend consulting with your doctor to check on your progress.Best of luck,Dr. Ali Sajjadian

If you suffered enough of an injury to create bruising I'd visit with your surgeon.  However, even in the setting of surgery performed osteotomies it does tend to take considerable force to cause a problem.  It is likely you got away with one in this circumstance but still visit with your doctor for evaluation.

The longer it is after your rhinoplasty, the stronger your nose becomes. Even non-operated, or fully healed, noses can be broken, however! The nose is the most commonly broken bone in the body.Peace of mind is important. Visit your surgeon for a checkup.

A blow to the nose is the last thing any surgeon wants to hear after rhinoplasty, and if you hit yourself hard enough to cause a bruise it is best to let your surgeon have a look.

Since you are only 7 weeks post op, you may have damaged your nose.  The only way to confirm is an in person exam by your surgeon.  Follow up with him as soon as possible for clarification.  Best wishes!
