The scar is from a dog bite about 15 years ago. I can still feel a small piece of scar tissue in lip. *Would I be a candidate for injections? *Will they be able to make my lip symmetric? *When I schedule how do I know the nurse is qualified to do such a fix? * I have a weird smile that covers my front teeth, I’ll add a pic. Will injections make my lip cover my teeth even more. *I’ve been researching for so long. I’m just ready to do something. Thank you in advance for your time.

Answer: Upper Lip Reshaping The redundant mucosa from the dog bite will need to be surgically removed. In the treatment of thin lips the debate is always between temporary fillers and permanent vermilion advancements. There are advantages and disadvantages with either approach. It all depends on what your lip size and shape goals are as to which may better. Many people start with fillers and first see of this completely reversible treatment approach can be effective.

Answer: Treating thin lips with a scar I Iwould recommend that you find a plastic surgeon near you whi can start working with you "slowly". By slowly I mean someone who will inject a small amount of a product (in your case I would recommend Juvederm) and see how your lip responds to the injection. If they see that Improvement is created, they can inject some more filler until an optimal shape and size is achieved. I hope this helps and good luck from New York City
