I have an upcoming hair transplant procedure and I was wondering is it ok for me to take antibiotics before the actual procedure. I have been prescribed antibiotics for a month for something called prostatitis, the nonbacterial form. This prescription will not affect anything will it?
Answer: Risk the only bacterial illness which could effect your hair transplant are infects on your scalp. The antibiotics which you are using for prostatitis should not be any problem or effect your hair transplant, i would suggest to inform your hair transplant surgeon again.

Answer: Antibiotics are routinely given during a hair transplant I would go with your doctor's recommendation, but I routinely give my patients a dose of antibiotics before their procedures.

Answer: Antibiotics and surgery Taking antibiotics prior to your hair transplant is fine. If your doctor started you on an antibiotic for prostatitis, you should take it as prescribed. You should let your hair transplant surgeon know about all medications you are taking, including the antibiotic. I routinely place patients on antibiotics for 7 days after the hair transplant and patient's start the medication the night before their surgery. Best of luck with the surgery.

Answer: Is it ok to take antibiotics before hair transplant procedure Thank you for posting. YES, absolutely safe to start taking antibiotics prior to procedure. Although not necessary, unless you are prone for infections. But it should not hurt getting an early start. Best, LAHC.
