Scar tissue visible under right nostril - is it possible to fix this? (Photos)

Question

Scar tissue inside ONE nostril? Anyone else ever had this near the septum nostril. I had rhinoplasty years ago but seen this almost immediately and it never went away. Is it possibly to get this fixed or would that be too risky? It feels loose inside.

The scars inside the nose cannot be fixed. These are not visible easily and should be left alone. Sometimes fixing these scars can effect breathing.

Hello and thank you for your question. Based on your photographs, this is likely deviated caudal septum and can be corrected with a revision surgery. Make sure you are going to a surgeon with hundreds of long-term before and after pictures on their website with standardized lighting and standardized backgrounds. With good surgical technique, you could have an outstanding result. I recommend that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified rhinoplasty surgeon who can evaluate you in person.

First think that comes to my mind is injection of corticosteroid like Kenalog into the scar. Within 1-3 weeks you should see some change; if needed, another injection may be delivered in 3-6 week. Good luck.

If you're breathing well through your nose, and if this is not obvious on front view, it may be best to just leave it alone. The best recommendation would be to discuss this with your surgeon, or to consult with another reputable rhinoplasty specialist for an evaluation. I hope this helps. Sincerely, Dr Joseph
