Can some explain what my breast augmentation expiration date means? (Photo)

I had my procedure and didn’t receive my device card. Finally received it after waiting weeks for it. On my card it shows an expiration date. 2027…. Can someone explain? I tried calling the manufacturer but the company has gotten bought out by another company and they dont have that information. I’m also waiting to hear from the Dr’s office to let me know what that means but it can be another 2weeks.

That date in the box is the date by which the implants are considered sterile in their container. There is no expiration date in any breast implant and although warrantied for a lifetime, breat implants may need to be replaced at some point either due to wear and tear, or other changes in the patient’s breasts which may warrant revision surgery. Please consult with your plastic surgeon or the manufacturer of your implants for further questions or concerns.

This expiry date refers to how long the implants are sterile, while they’re still unopened in the package. It’s a “use by” date, much like the date printed on a milk carton or other food product. However, once the implants are removed from the package and placed into the body, they do not have an “expiry date”. Implants only need to be removed/exchanged if you experience issues with them.

Nothing to be worry about. What you see is the sterilization date expiration. All devices that are sterile have this date as part of the safety protocols. Talked to your Plastic surgeon and im sure he/she will be glad to give you more details.

Not to worry, your implants won't expire!  Implants come in a sterile box that isn't opened until in the operating room.  The date refers to when the sterilization of the box containing the implants is considered expired.

The expiration date is the date the sterilization of the implants in their box expires, and has nothing to do with the implants now inside your body.  All sterilized medical devices and equipment are dated to know when the sterilization process is potentially no longer sterile. Don't concern yourself with that date.

The expiration dates in breast implant packaging relate to the sterility guarantee, not the life of the implant. The implant cannot be placed if it is past its sterility expiration date.
