How can I wash my nose after rhinoplasty? 18 days post op.

Hi, I am at 18 days post-op and I don't know how much pressure can I put when washing and applying cleanser. My surgeon told me to do this but I don't know exactly how to do it because I'm really worried to damage my nose. When I apply the cleanser I barely touch the skin, thus it is very oily and full of glue things because of tapping. Please help me!

Typically after your cast and bandages are removed you can wash your face and nose normally.  This means using a gentle cleanser with gentle pressure on the nose.

It should be absolutely fine to wash your nose gently. If the issue is the adhesive from the tape it may be an idea to contact the practice nurse at your Plastic Surgeon's office since it is possible to use an adhesive remover.

Thanks for your question, It's best to ask your specific surgeon, but I tell my patients to shower normally. Let the water and steam hit the nose for a while and gently scrub (lightly) with a mild cleanser. Sometimes it will take a couple showers to be perfectly clean. It's also a good idea to keep vaseline on the columellar incision and on the insides of the nose (if it was an open rhinoplasty). Hope this helps and God Bless!Dr. Robb
