Is gargling after rhinoplasty okay to do?

Hi I am so used to gargling after brushing my teeth that I did it without thinking the day after my rhinoplasty. Would this have any adverse effect on the nasal bone or the nostrils, which were repaired?

Yes, you may certainly continue with your regular oral care routine post rhinoplasty.  I would however recommend that you use a mild cleanser as you may be tender from the intubation.Hope this helps.Dr. Philip Solomon - Solomon Facial Plastic - Toronto, Canada

Hmmm.... I would think not.  Minimize your strenuous activity but normal activities of daily living like gargling I think are fine.  More specific issues I would discuss with your surgeon as their may be particulars that may need to be considered.  Best Wishes!!

Thank you for your question. A typical dental hygiene routine will not have a negative impact to the surgical site. Be careful not hit or bump the nose and avoid nose blowing for at least two full weeks after surgery.
