Is Acne on nose area related to rhinoplasty? 3 years post op.

Question

I’ve had my rhinoplasty 3 years ago. They took some of my rib to give me a defined bridge in addition to alar reduction. I noticed that since then, I have been getting acne on my nose. It is usually a big one that does not form a pus on the surface. As a result, you can see a big bump right smack in the middle of my nose. I usually have one big bump every two months. I get rid of them by using a sterile lancet, squeezing out the pus that is trapped underneath, then applying a colloid patch.

I agree with others that your skin problem is not related to your surgery, but it may be related to either the antibiotics, the taping or the massage that you performed after the surgery. There are several things that the Dermatologists can do to help, so I'd go see yours ASAP to get on the right track. Good luck!!

If the bump is always in exactly the same place, you could have a sebacious inclusion cyst which could conceivably be related to the surgery, but it's impossible to say, because most inclusion cysts are not related to previous surgery, and just occur spontaneously.  My advice is to let the bump grow a little but before you lance it and let your surgeon look at it.  Best of luck to you.

Your acne is 99.99 % not related to your surgery 3 years out. That being said, next time you experience the acne go see your surgeon so they can assess what’s going on. You will get a better answer after an in person exam. Best
