Results 6 weeks post 1st Sculptra treatment

Question

I'm a 54 year old female in good health. 1 vial of Sculptra 46 days ago. In the last few days, started to notice improvement around smile lines and hollowness in lower cheek area (right above jaw line, near corner of lips). Both areas are filling up nicely. I like what I see in the mirror so far. Is the result I'm seeing going to disappear? Is it that water has come back into the Sculptra product? I hope it doesn't dissipate.

Sculptra is a stimulatory product that gradually produces volume replacement.  In most cases, several treatment sessions are needed to obtain the desired result, which can last 2-4 years.  The result you are seeing 6 weeks after your first treatment session could still slightly improve.  I have seen improvement continue for about 2 months after treatment.  It is a little unusual that only one treatment session would be needed to get the desired effect, but it is possible.

Sculptra lasts up to 2 years, at full correction. Sculptra is a great product for improving facial volume and collagen building, but for best results, I recommend using it in a combination depending on desired results. I combine Sculptra with other fillers, lasers, toxins and skin care to give immediate results. Sculptra works by stimulating your own fibroblasts to produce collagen in the treated areas. The result of treatment is a subtle correction of volume loss that is your own tissue. Results will dissipate as your body ages and usually last around 2-3 years. I advise patients to do one vial of Sculptra per year to maintain the results they love!

The result you are seeing is exactly what is expected from Sculptra - it stimulates new collagen formation, and this effect takes 6-12 weeks. Depending on whether you have had other treatments Sculptra is usually done over a series of treatments for maximum benefit, but whatever result you see from the treatment you have had should last a good while. Once you have achieved a good result the effect should last for 2 years or more, with maintenance treatments being done at suitable intervals.

Sculptra is a great product and it is long lasting but it takes time to see the full results.  It can take two or three treatments scheduled one month apart to see the full results. Thanks for sharing your excellent question. What you are now seeing is the result of the collagen production from the Sculptra injection itself. This is not water being absorbed by the Sculptra. Expect the end result to last 2 years although once a year maintenance treatment is recommended.

Thank you for your question. The results you are seeing should be long lasting. Sculptra Aesthetic is a bio-stimulator. It promotes collagen production which can last for many years. At the same time, as we age we are continually losing our collagen so you may need to undergo additional Sculptra injections to replace this collagen that is being lost.I hope this was helpful - Dr. Moore.

You seem to have NOT been explained to your complete understanding the physiologic effect of Sculptra usage. It takes up to 3 months for the final results to appear. Plus sounds like you were under treated in # of vials bought/purshased/used. Most facial rejuvenation # of vials is from 2 to 6. Fees per vial range from $500 to $1,000/vial.
