How often for maintenance Sculptra? Can't go by looks since you see yourself everyday.

Your satisfaction with a Sculptra facelift isn’t unusual! Sculptra is a marvelous product that triggers the production of new, strong strands of collagen in your skin that create a supportive matrix. The lift and contour you are seeing should last about 2 years or  longer. However, because you will be aging during that time, too, there will be continued volume loss.  Beginning at age 30, its normal to lose one tablespoon of fat from the face per year. My usual recommendation is to be evaluated at one year and very likely receive a maintenance treatment.  At that time, you would probably need only one vial per year to keep looking great, rather than wait until it’s all gone. We can turn back the clock, but not stop it, so yearly maintenance is a great strategy to keep looking your best for decades. Sculptra lasts up to 2 years, at full correction. Sculptra is a great product for improving facial volume and collagen building, but for best results, I recommend using it in a combination depending on desired results. I combine Sculptra with other fillers, lasers, toxins and skin care to give immediate results. Results after a series of Sculptra treatments can last 2-4 years.  Everyone ages differently, so it is difficult to say how long to wait before having a maintenance treatment.  You can use the pictures taken of you before the treatment to judge how the results are holding up over time.  I would say you could see your physician about a year after your last treatment to see how things look and if no treatment is needed, I would check it again 6-12 months later.  

These results should last approximately 2-3 years once you have achieved your desired level of volume correction.  I have patients schedule an annual appointment for treatment with 1 vial of Sculptra as maintenance to preserve the results.  

It's hard to comment on your case specifically without seeing a photo evaluating you in person. That being said, with my own patients, I usually recommend 1-2 vials once a year after full volume correction has been achieved with Sculptra. 

Thank you for your question! Sculptra is one of my most requested fillers, and for good reason! It is a great product and really does give a natural look. It is true that one vial per decade is a good rule of thumb, but that can fluctuate depending on previous treatments as well as genetics. After your initial treatments my recommendations for maintenance also vary, but typically I recommend anywhere from 6 months to 1 year apart. Best of luck to you!

In our practice we recommend for someone your age to get a vial every 1 to 2 years.  Someone in their 40's to 50's we recommend a maintenence schedule 2 vials every 1 to 2 years.
