Can someone got to the beach a week after the surgery? If you want to have sex with a significant other can your body still be swollen, and your body would be a turn off for the other person a week or two weeks right after the procedure?
Answer: It is not recommended that you go to the beach so soon after a procedure. If you are concerned about what your body may look like, it is important to note that bruising and mild swelling are to be expected immediately after an operation like this. You should start to notice improvement within two to four weeks and should have a relatively final impression of your results anywhere from three to six months. Vigorous exercise should be avoided for at least 2 weeks after any sort of procedure, as it is important that your body gets the proper rest in order to heal. Even relaxing on the beach could prove detrimental to the healing process, as it is best to keep new scars out of direct sunlight.

Answer: Going to the beach after surgery I assume you are talking about the procedure of lipocontouring. Bruising varies tremendously from area to area (i.e., neck vs thighs) and person to person. As a rule of thumb, I ask my patients not to go into the sun until all of the bruising has completely disappeared. Bruised skin means healing skin that should not be traumatized by external factors such as sun exposure. You can have sex after two weeks even with those who are not your significant other. Ha - but, yes, you certainly can start having sex again taking into account a host of different factors one of which you hit on: how much discomfort the person still has, how you look both to you as well as your partner, whether there is any residual drainage, etc. One of my other rule of thumbs is to tell the patient that if they feel up to having sex then go right on ahead.
