The injection of HA fillers such as Restylane Lyft into the lateral cheekbones is commonly performed by board certified plastic surgeons. The deeper preperiosteal plane where the filler sits and the immobile nature of the cheek favors longer lasting results. However, any amount of filler into this area will cause local swelling, possibly exaggerating the result . After a period of time, swelling reduces and may give the impression of reduction or loss of the HA filler. It is possible that additional filler to volumize the area is needed to give a long term satisfactory result. Before and after facial photographs are important in documenting treatments for patients.Nonsurgical options include other HA fillers (Voluma), fat grafts and PRP, but full correction may again be based on amount of filler and cost of treatment, to attain a satisfactory result. It is important to discuss these factors with patients when performing injectable treatment.
Hello, and thank you for your question. Restylane Lyft is a great option for cheeks, so it is unfortunate it did not last long. Additionalnfillers that can be placed include Juvederm Voluma or Vollux. These are great fillers, but which type of filler used depends on one’s volume loss and skin laxity, as well as being male vs female. Filler placed in cheeks can generally last 18 months to 24 months, but again, depends on one’s metabolism and the type of product placed. If you happen to metabolize through filler quickly, then there is nothing that can be done to make filler last longer. I would recommend scheduling an in-person consultation to discuss which filler would be a great option for your treatment area of concern. Hope this helps!
For unique cases where a variety of modalities could be used to treat the condition, I would suggest an in-person or virtual consultation to develop a custom and effective treatment plan. It is difficult to precisely define the best option without collecting the same information. I suggest reaching out to an expert for a consultation with surgical and non-surgical methods to get a comprehensive option. Best, Dr. Emer.
Thank you for your question and I am happy to hear you were pleased with the effects of your Restylane Lyft treatment. Some people metabolize filler faster than others. I would suggest to try another family of fillers, such as Juvederm Voluma, can give longer results in some patients. I recommend scheduling a consultation with a board-certified dermatologist who has the experience and expertise to tailor your treatment to your unique needs and goals.
I appreciate your question. The biggest drawback with dermal fillers is that the results are temporary, which means if you love your new look, you will need to schedule regular treatments to maintain it. There are some treatment options that last longer, now that you know you like the look of fuller cheekbones. The first is autologous fat transfer, which uses your own fat cells to add volume to select areas of the face. The fat is extracted from areas like the hips or abdomen and then purified and injected into strategic locations on the midface. The second option is cheek implants. These devices are placed into the facial tissue from inside the mouth, eliminating visible scarring afterward. The implants can be left indefinitely, as long as you don’t experience any problems. No matter which treatment you choose, make sure you work with a board-certified plastic surgeon who has the expertise to tailor your treatment to your precise needs for the best possible result.
Thank you for your question. If Restylane isn't providing the long lasting results you were expecting, I recommend Bellafill. It has been approved by the FDA as a safe and effective treatment—for up to 5 years. Hope this helps. All the best
If you like the way fillers look and want the results to last longer, you do have some options. I would recommend either a facial fat transfer or Bellafill with PRP (Vampire Facelift with Bellafill). The cost will be more, but you will save money in the long run because the results can last 5 years or more. Keep in mind that because the results are very long lasting, if it is done carelessly, you are stuck with the bad results, so do your research and find someone who knows what they are doing.
Hi, thanks for your question. Although Restylane Lyft is a good product, I think you might get a little better longevity from Juvederm Voluma. Some folks metabolize dermal filler quickly. It is likely you still have some Restylane in the cheeks, but it has shrunk to the point where it doesn't give you the aesthetic effect you desire. I believe Voluma will last longer. If you find after trying this that it still goes away too quickly, you could consider fat transfer to the cheeks which could potentially last for many years, if not a lifetime. Hope this helps, and best of luck - Dr. Giordano
Typically, Lyft lasts longer than that but potentially something like Sculptra or Radiesse could last longer as they are clinically indicated to last 2 years and 18 months.
Restylane Lyft is a great filler choice for the cheeks. It may be that you were undertreated and simply required more product. If you are wanting to try a different filler for this area, another option is Juvederm Voluma.
Hello,All good feedback. Generally, we ask all filler injection patients to wait a full two weeks before having facials, massages, or any other treatments that will cause pressure on the area of injection. As mentioned, we are wanting the filler to have full integration with the tissue. In ad...
Hi there! I’m Lauren, the aesthetic injector here at Colorado Plastic Surgery Center. Restylane Lyft typically takes about 1 to 2 weeks to settle into the treated area fully.
I encourage you to return to your injector two weeks after your treatment for an evaluation. Often times patients see the best results by combining under eye filler with cheek filler. This allows for a smoother contour from the under eye to the cheek. I've included a video I hope you find helpful.
