Male cheek anatomy is not the same as that of female cheek structure. While high cheekbones (like seen in models) are a desirable and much sought after when attempting to achieve a more youthful, feminine face, they would feminize a male face. In addition, male faces tend to be flatter (less rounded, as well) toward the central region of the face.Strong jawlines and broader chins, on the other hand, masculinize the face. So, again poorly trained and inexperienced injectors accustomed to cookie cutter treatment of women's faces are likely to create poor outcomes in male patients wishing to achieve the more ideal masculine look. Less important these days is which volumizing filler to use. Voluma XC and Radiesse are fine for facial contouring and volume restoration, but the former has the advantage of being dissolved with an enzyme in the event that this becomes necessary. Radiesse lacks this significant advantage. And while Radiesse effects may last up to two years in the cheeks, my experience with Voluma is that its benefits last about 1.5+ years, making Radiesse not significantly that more advantageous in duration vs. its obvious disadvantage of not having that safety net for easy removal should that be necessary. Make sure that you consult with a board certified aesthetic physician, and be certain to ask to see his/her personal before and after photos of men treated in the specific areas for which you seek improvement.
