Time between each Kybella treatment, advice?

Whenever a dermatologist gives you a timeline, it’s a guide, not an absolute. The guide is based on the results of a number of patients considered together. Individuals vary, of course. The reason we recommend waiting at least 4 to 6 weeks ( I actually recommend waiting 2-3 months between treatments so one can see full results) between Kybella treatments is that your body needs time to heal from the injections, you may be swollen for some time after your treatment, and you want to get an idea of what your results are before continuing treatments. This last point is particularly important in the last stages of your Kybella therapy. Consulting a board-certified dermatologist will help you decide the best schedule for your individual healing pattern. 

Thank you for your question. Kybella is FDA approved for treatment of a "double chin". We inject Kybella, a synthetic version of naturally occurring deoxycholic acid, below the skin. It dissolves and removes the excess fat.  As the fat is dissolved, an inflammatory response occurs and this can take 2-4 weeks to subside. There may be some bruising and redness for up to 1 week but these can easily be covered with makeup. Overall you can return to work immediately and most people would not notice that you have had the procedure.  You’ll see some results after the first treatment, but to get the best results, we recommend two to five treatments.
