Double chin: Would I need 2 vials of Kybella based on these photos? (photos)

Dear sophiaxd_,Kybella typically takes 3 to 5 treatments to work. This is why I've stopped carrying Kybella in my office.  I recommend neck liposuction more often then any injectable procedure for the neck now. It provides superior results gives me more control over the area than any injectable.  It also costs about the same as what you paid for your first kybella session. The liposuction can be done under local while awake in the office and recovery is about the same as kybella.Daniel Barrett, MD

You can have up to four vials of Kybella during each treatment. Most people need about three treatments, total, to get the fat-elimination and skin-contraction they’re looking for. However, two vials will start to eliminate your excess fat in that first session. Consulting a board-certified dermatologist will give you a better sense of what you actually need, rather than be limited by a daily or weekly special.

From the photos it appears two kybella should make a difference. It is all about what bothers you exactly. So be precise.  In my hands I get better results with liposuction and jawline sculpting ( I do kybella also) but I am a surgeon so maybe I am jaded in that way. Below is my typical approach as well as the attached video for some instruction. This area can have persistent fat in even very thin patients. So it is all about having fat in the right places. Sometimes we even move this fat to another area to help define the jawline or cheekbones. If you are not interested in moving the fat then we can use fillers such as restylane of juvederm to give some definition along with sculpting the jawline and neck. We would need to do a good physical exam on you to determine exactly but we typically remove that layer of fat beneath the skin and allow the skin to fibrose to the muscle of the neck.  It is not uncommon to combine this procedure with other fat sculpting techniques such as buccal fat removal. The muscles of the neck and tongue in conjunction with the only free floating bone in the body (the hyoid bone) are the limitations of what you are trying to obtain. After palpating that bone and those muscles you could get a better idea of what can be obtained.
