I am wondering if using Retinol right after Microneedling with PRP will heighten results and create more collagen.
Answer: Retinol right after micro needling Hi, this is a very important question because people often want to combine micro needling treatments with topical treatments. Please keep in mind that when you perforate the skin with the micro needles, you are creating a channel to allow topical ingredients to penetrate deep into the skin. While, this is great for PRP, it is not such a great idea for topical ingredients that were not meant to be injected. We always warn people not to put anything on the skin other than what we recommend for at least 24 hours after micro needling. We once had a patient who did not follow instructions and put on organic grape seed oil and had a severe allergic reaction. Although she normally uses it with no problems, the micro channels allowed the substance to penetrate the normal skin barrier and caused the reaction. PRP with micro needling is an awesome treatment! Just a little hyaluronic acid over it is all that you need.

Answer: Vampire Facial Thank you for your question in regards to “vampire facial” treatment, also known as Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) facial. The short answer is no. Retinol is a topical used to help unclog pores, reduce appearance of pigmentation and improve over all tone and texture of the skin. It is not meant to be injected or penetrated into the skin, which would happen if used right after a microneedling treatment. It is typically suggested to begin your normal skin care regimen once healed from this procedure. To be sure what is best for you, see two or more board-certified providers in your area for a complete evaluation to make sure you are a good candidate and that it is safe for you to have treatment. I hope this helps.
