I've always been really self-conscious about my manly looking jawline and chin. I've realized that my upwards pointing chin is what makes my face look extra manly and witchy, some people even think I'm a tranny sometimes and it's so embarassing :( I have a big nose and it has a big bump at the top as well. What kind of surgery can i get on my chin so that it will look more feminine? can i get the fat removed from my chin and have my chin pointed down and not as squared?

Answer: Great question Thank you for posting a picture.First of all, I find you very beautiful. While men tend to have a more defined jaw, it is also associated with high levels of confidence and, in my opinion, beats the alternative. There are two things you may want to consider. The first is Botox injections in the chin. After Botox injections, the muscles treated tend to shrink or atrophy. That is especially true if done on a repeated basis. That procedure is common in certain Asian women but done on the back part of the jaw to make it look less wide. Some people get Botox in the chin to simply make the skin appear smoother. It's certainly less involved than surgery, though also not permanent. The second option is surgery to shorten the chin projection. Look for either a plastic surgeon with craniofacial experience or perhaps an oral surgeon who does a lot of cosmetic surgery. It's a fairly straight forward procedure.Be careful about getting a rhinoplasty!A smaller nose can make the chin appear bigger.I hope that helps.Best of luck,Mats Hagstrom, M.D.
